Gamirasu Cave Hotel Urgup

Nestled in the secluded and unspoiled Ayvali village in Turkey, the unique Gamirasu Cave Hotel is a captivating retreat comprising of six brilliantly restored and integrated cave houses, an integral part of 12th Century Byzantine monastery. Exotic, mysterious, historical and luxurious, the combination of seven ancient troglodyte cave houses with twenty-five rooms make it a perfect escape for backpackers, adventurers, enthusiasts and honeymooners alike.

One of the enchanting features of the hotel is your chance to observe Whirling Dervishes meditational dance, essentially a Sufi worship ceremony which is executed with the aim of attaining religious ecstasy. Amongst some cool highlights of the hotel, you can try out your hand at traditional wine-making, bake Turkish artisanal breads in a stone oven or learn Turkish cooking.

All rooms are different and designed in accord with the natural Fairy Chimney surroundings. Decorated with traditional Cappadocian rugs, sitting corners and fireplaces, each room offers modern amenities without off-putting the spiritual feel of the area known to have inhabited Ayvali for more than 5000 years.

Gamirasu Cave Hotel also offers excellent dining facility. The breakfast is presented in open buffet and plentiful style with treats like home-made jams, pure village honey, locally dried apricots and fresh cream. Only organic local produce is used in the hotel’s kitchen and lunch and dinner is served in typical Cappadocian style in the hotel’s restaurant. You may also dine out if you wish. Ayvali has a single restaurant but the neighboring town of Mustafapasa has a few more. Urgup, a nearby town is also quite known for bustling nightlife and restaurants.
