I arrived at the hotel via train on my first trip ever to Europe. The hotel insisted my reservation had been cancelled. I was never notified of this and neither was Orbitz. The manager was rude, refused to talk to me on the phone and claimed they knew no other hotels in the area that they could even recommend!!! The hotel charged me credit card and Orbitz was able to eventually refund it, but the hotel refused any further compensation. We were forced to stay at a more expensive hotel, which we checked into at 1am, on the other side of town. DON'T BOOK THIS HOTEL IF YOU PLAN OR YOUR RESERVATION BEING THERE!!!! TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!! RUINED MY TRIP TO LONDON!!!!!

Having booked via laterooms, the hotel had no record of my reservation and advised me to ring laterooms on my own mobile to confirm the details, after further argument with the receptionist he finally realised that the fax machine had ran out of paper and that I had indeed reserved a room with them. The room allocated was marginally bigger than a broom cupboard, complete with tatty worn out carpet, filthy bedding, broken electrical fittings, a full rodent trap, a malfunctioning television and a bathroom that seemed to have never been cleaned. The reception staff were very rude and unable to grasp the basics of the english language and were unable to find me an alternative place to stay. They also declined to issue me with a correct invoice upon checkout as the morning reception staff refused to get up off their sofabed to attend to an early checkout. This place is without doubt the worst hotel I have ever stayed in and not worthy of a third of the amount that I paid for the room.

Twinroom was small and worn, wall-to-wall carpet was in bad condition/dirty. Bathroom was close to normal, shower was out of date with separate cold and hot faucets. The only highlight of the hotel was excellent location.

Good bargain for the price I paid - small rooms but clean and comfortable. Breakfast was so and so, but then again continental breakfast is nothing like english. Nevertheless this is a hotel where I'd definitely stay again!

Don’t stay at the Apollo, it will leave you with an itchy feeling!!!!!!!!!Staff attitude very poor, rooms very much like closets, very dirty and un-hygienic, with graffiti on walls of rooms and electrical extension leads spread straight across the floor, bedding wasn't clean was covered in little black things!!! And numerous hairs, there was a continual aroma of sewerage coming from the bathroom (all night) that made you want to gag, the beds were old!!! And springs were protruding from them, there were no quilts, just a paper thin throw and a flat useless pillow, the rooms were very cold. Breakfast was included in the £100 per night stay it cost me, and it was a joke, a choice between croissant, bread roll and some stale (cheap) cornflakes, the restaurant was staffed but they were ignorant. 5 of us stayed at the hotel in 2 separate rooms and we all agreed to warn others not to go there.
