the room we were allocated was nothing like the pictures on the internet, and the bed was 2 single beds pushed together. there was no natural light in the room either as the windows were internally facing. the breakfast buffet was very nice indeed though.

The hotel was very modern and very close to the termini. I could find no fault with those aspects but the twin room I stayed in was tiny. My friends double room was roomy but the twin room we had was far too small for 2 people. One had to sit on the bed to let the other move around.

Hotel Ariston has a great location! We took the Leonardo Express in from FCO, and the hotel was about a 10 minute walk from the platform (because the train stops at a satellite location). The main part of the Termini station (including the Metro), however, was a 2-minute walk, so it was easy to get to the trains and public phones to call home. The room itself was a little cramped: there was maybe 2 feet of walking space on the sides of the queen (?) bed, but the separate bathroom area was roomy enough. The service was good, too; each day, when we came back from touring, our room was good as new. The breakfast was okay; nothing special. The room included a safe and a minibar (which was not included in our rate, so we didn't end up using it). There's a "roof garden," too, though all we saw there were dead plants and some construction material. All in all, it's a good place to spend the night and come back and relax to. The only thing we wish we knew beforehand was to find a supermarket the first day. Things there are VERY cheap (a 2L bottle of water for only 0.28 euros!), so we ended up buying lots of water and some soda, which we'd take everywhere. Then when mealtimes came, we didn't have to spend more money at the restaurant.

Nice hotel, small room, very slow serviceThe hotel is a stones throw from Termini main train station (really just round the corner), very close to the city centre. We were staying for 1 night with my girlfriend. The hotel is nicely designed and clean. The room was a bit too small and the minibar empty. The service was very slow, but remember, you're in Italy, so you have to expect that :) Breakfast was OK, but nothing special. I can recommend this hotel, although you might want to go for superior rooms as the standard ones I wouldn't give 4 stars.

Hotel OK but maybe the better rooms require more money or you could be lucky. The hotel was booked as a 4* and I would rate our stay 3*. While the loby was lovely the hotel room was just ok. On arrival went to the bar for a drink. From the barman and the others asking for drinks, the small bar only had white wine... no red or rose. They had no brandy, vodka, bacardi and the beers on pump were off and beer was only bottled Heineken. We stayed 7 nights and the room was not what we had expected. There was little natural light, the windows opened onto a fire escape situated in a small enclosed courtyard. One night we opened the window to smell smoke, possible people/staff gathering outside. We had the 2 single beds pushed together to make the double room and for a seven night stay thought the room would have been better. The shower in the bathroom was ok but we were unable to get a constant temperature as the water ran hot and No extractor to remove the steam in the bathroom. Not really a problem but the room filled with steam.Breakfast was not included in our booking. We went to breakfast the first morning and paid the €39 and was disappointed. I saw no real fruit and the selection of breads were poor. Bread rolls and sliced bread for toast. Not 4* class. Enough other food for breakfastI can only assume the hotel has better rooms that they give to people who pay more. I listened to other checking into the hotel and can only assume that they were paying more. The room, breakfast and the bar did not encourage us to return and use the hotel. The hotel was ok but I do believe in this case you get what you pay for. At about €100 per night I believe the stay was expensive enough, given the quality of the room which did have a Air/con, safe, fridge and TV.
