this was a terrible hotel to stay at....not only did the hospitality but it was an overall terrible hotel.
Hotel was nice, chic, modern. Hotel room was kind of small, but that's Europe for you. Proximity to Acropolis and Plaka fantastic. Gym very small and chintzy - not worthy of a 4 Star Rating. But overall, would recommend. AC is great!
The hotel itself looked nice. It was smaller than I thought, but our 2nd room was pretty roomy and nice. It was sort of a disaster though, 'cause we didn't have a shower door, so I had to shower without one and then when I went to grab the blow dryer, it blew up on me and shut off the power on the floor we were on. I called down and told them what happened, but they weren't even apologetic or didn't even offer a new room, until I asked for one.
We just returned from our 7 year Anniversary trip to Athens. We used travelocity to book the flight and hotel. Since neither my husband nor myself had ever been to Greece we had to use the reviews on this website to determine our hotel choice. We were VERY pleased with the Athenian Callirhoe Hotel. The hotel was in a good area, close to the metro, close to a outdoor walking plaza(great for q with small restaurants, close to the city center, and a bus stop. The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. They booked a day trip through a travel agency at our request for us. They called cabs when we needed them (cab drivers that were trusted not to swindle tourist for more money). They gave us directions to shops and to the metro. Our room was extremely clean. The housekeeping service was fantastic. The room service was superior! The food was delicious! I expected much less but was pleasantly surprised by the quality. We didn't eat in the restaurant on location so I can't comment on that, but I assume that is was even better than the room service! The rooftop bar was beautiful and was modernly decorated! A beautiful view of the Acropolis every night! The rooms had double paned windows and doors so the room was very quiet while we slept. I honestly can't think of a negative thing to say about this hotel, except that I thought the breakfast buffet was overpriced. So eat somewhere else. I choice this Hotel because the price was less expensive than most of the other hotels in Athens, but . I expected a hotel that was suitable, but the Athenian really went far and above my expectations.
