The Abbey Hotel was great if it is a really central location you are after. It is located 1 street from the Abbey, 1 from the Baths and 2 from the Thermae Spa. All the shops are 2 minutes walk and there are loads of pubs and places to eat nearby. Also a couple of minutes walk from Pulteney Bridge. Of course the central location means it is difficult to find cheap parking - we paid about £15 over the course of 24 hours for parking in a conveniently located carpark, so if you are planning a longer break, it could become very expensive. The hotel is part of teh Best Western chain. Room was reasonably clean and suited us absolutely fine for a one night stay. Breakfast in the morning was of a good standard for a 3 star hotel with plenty of variety. We found the staff to be very polite. All in all a good option for a short stay.

We thought this hotel had a fantastic location and was very good value for money. It helped that we had read the reviews of other people beforehand and therefore requested a room at the back of the hotel..which meant it was a lot quieter. Think this is a must if you want a reasonable nights sleep! The breakfast in the morning was excellent and the staff were very helpful. We would definately book this hotel again.

Great location. Very central. The hotel was clean and the rooms were clean but the bathrooms were dated. The room we stayed in was HOT. The heater in the bathroom wouldn't turn off and it was uncomfortably hot in the room as a result. We had to keep the fan on and the window open. Fortunately we weren't spending a great deal of time inside the room. The room was fairly small but certainly adequate for an overnight stay. The reception staff were lovely and helpful. The customer service was let down by the breakfast wait staff, one in particular was very abrupt and didn't seem to want to take our orders. When the food came it was not what we had ordered at all. The breakfast was not very appetising. Average at best. I would recommend eating out. Overall it was adequate for the money we spent and the location was fantastic. All things considered, I would stay here again.

This was my 3rd time staying here. The hotel is old with stairways going in very direction and the room numbers do not make much sense. But the hotel is located right next to the Bath Abbey and the center of town making walking access to the town very easy. The rooms are clean and the beds are OK. I have always been given a very fair price for the rooms as I often do work for a nearby museum. Breakfasts are excellent but often cut off too early for me. Parking is a big issue. You have to park at a public off site garage and if you dont get up and plug the meter by 8am you get a nice 30 pound ticket which I did because I didnt get up in time to go plug the meter. Very irritating for someone trying to enjoy some vacation time. There should be hotel tickets that could be displayed on the dash boards so a little slack could be cut for those of us who like to sleep in a little on vacation.

- no parking or reserved parking at public car park- toilet sounded like a fog horn when flushed- no room service for guests - depsite a menu in the rooms which said it was 24 hours !!- started cleaning the bar one night before we had left - spraying polich around etc etc. they should clean when all the guests are gone !- had to wait over 15mins for a table for breakfast one morning. they know how many guests they have so they should plan accordingly
