General Description

The Ashling Hotel overlooks the River Liffey in the city centre and is just 15 minutes walk to the Temple Bar area. Offering a warm welcome, this is the ideal place to stay when in Dublin on business or leisure and is renowned for its comfort and friendliness. The LUAS (Red Line) tram runs adjacent to the hotel and within walking distance are some of the capital's most famous sights including National Museum, Guinness Brewery, Four Courts, Phoenix Park, Dublin Zoo, Temple bar and for whiskey lovers, the Jameson Distillery in Smithfield Village. Facilities include 148 spacious bedrooms, Guinness Lounge, Cobblestones Bistro, Conference Suites and Multi-Storey Car Park. Adjacent to Heuston Rail Station and easily accessible from Dublin Airport via the AIRLINK Bus service to Heuston Station. ***The older part of the Ashling Hotel on Parkgate Street will be undergoing building works involving a major transformation and will result in 130 new deluxe bedrooms, a new restaurant and bar along with a new facade. Works will commence on Monday 14th January 2008 and take approximately twelve months. During the construction phase it will be business as usual albeit on a smaller scale (70 bedrooms) and with some necessary changes to allow the works to take place. From Monday 14th January 2008 the hotel entrance will be accessed from Montpelier Hill at the rear of Parkgate Street. They will also be operating the Cobblestones Bistro and Guinness Lounge bar from here. Any disturbance or disruptions will be kept to an absolute minimum.***

It was okay. Noisy, construction was going on, I expected a complimentary continental breakfast and they said no. The building is being expanded so there is a lot of construction noise. The hotel was a good no frills first stop in Dublin.

Toured Ireland and my favorite hotel was the Ashling. The staff was wonderful, the place was very elegant, the price was very reasonable and defintly worth every euro. I am returning to Ireland very soon, will be staying in another city but will be making arrangements to visit Dublin and the Ashling as part of my trip.

Dublin is incredible! The staff at The Ashling Hotel are very warm and friendly. The restaurant was great and the Guinness Lounge was a fun time, can't say enough about the staff. The room was cold, but they brought a space heater which helped. If you go in the winter, the room will be cold but they will do all they can. I will go back to Dublin and I will stay here again, close to the train line and a short walk to everywhere, also very safe.

Let me say that this is not the fanciest hotel but definitely one of the better ones! Full Irish Breakfast included with room...never went hungry! Access to public transportation....Tram, train or bus....everything right there! Staff....exceptional!!!! They will bend over backwards to help you! Friendly...caring....helpful!!! What more could you ask?! Close to almost everything and security....they buzz you into the hotel at night! No bums or beggars to worry about! Food was good...Guinness was good....time was GOOD! Not alot of money neither.

This older, conveniently located hotel is a good place to stay in Dublin. Hop on the tram and you are at O'Connel St or Temple Bar areas in minutes. Cozy pub has free wireless for guests, a real plus. The staff's service left a bit to be desired but was certainly adequate.

Though the staff was courteous enough-after several calls to the front desk to fix the strobe light in the bathroom and the lack of hot water and heat in our room (which we had booked as two double beds but had one double and a single)-several people appeared-brought in a heater and fixed the light and explained that the water needed to run for 5mins or more to achieve the temperature hot enough to shower. After that-all was well-a little shabby but great location. Near Train station and Luas.Temple Bar and museums.

Close to train station. Renovations did not encompass my room/wing. Half the hotel was nicely renovated, but you may stay in the older wing. The fire alarm was mistakenly set off many times during one night, poorly compensated for that.
