General Description

The Bestwood Lodge Hotel is ideally located in the heart of Robin Hood Country. Once the former royal hunting estate of King Charles II and Nell Gwynn, this historical lodge is set in 700 acres of beautiful parkland, yet only 4 miles north of Nottingham city centre. 40 en-suite rooms, including six with 4-poster beds. All bedrooms offer an en-suite bathroom, colour television, direct dial telephone, tea and coffee making facilities, trouser press, 24 hour room service and wireless internet facilities. Our Parkside restaurant overlooks Bestwood Country Park and offers a superb menu complemented by an excellent wine list. Or relax in our wood panelled foyer bar with its comfortable leather armchairs, serving fine wines, lagers, beers, spirits and liqueurs. Bar snacks are also available. We are an ideal conference venue for 2 to 200 delegates. Weddings and banqueting are a specialty. The hotel offers ample, secure FREE car parking. The hotel does not have a lift. However the hotel does have a stair lift to the first floor only.

Lovely lady on in restaurant - very welcoming. Breakfast delicious. Huge room for a single too. Would stay again.

Once agin another excellent hotel that I have come across on this website. Service was friendly and the young lady who ran the restaurant was excellent.

Decor needs help, i.e. rotten window frames in room, T.V too small and reception poor, heating not great and a choice of a quilt instead of sheets would have been nice, but all in all enjoyed the stay.

A very fine old hotel great character. Very helpful and friendly staff, walking in the Park was good. Overnight security in the car park is a bonus (not that it was needed).Room comfortable. Will be back next week watch out for the next review.

Fascinating building and history. Lovely to walk in the grounds after dinner. I lived in Nottingham for 30 years but never klnew this place. I wish I had!

Unclean unclean - ring out your deadI stayed in this hotel at short notice and paid 50 pounds per night. The room was adequate - but the beds were obviously not changed each night - with human hair and stains on the sheets. The shower did not work blowing hot and cold and I when I complained they changed my room. This was to a room with a better shower (not electric) but that still went hot and cold. The bedspreads on the new rooms beds were dirty - which I pointed out to an embarassed receptionist, whom I also asked to take away the half eaten biscuits and get the TV to work - more human hairs in the beds - she apologised ans said she would speak to the manager. On the morning of my departure there was no mention by anyone of my problems - when I inquired - it turned out that notes had been left about my experiences - the recptionist started to tell me about internal problems with 'housekeeping' - I politely told her I didn't give a stuff about that and that I would vote with my feet - suggest you do it prior to booking.

pleasant staff, quiet location. good breakfast decent barnot close to town. you have to eat in unless you want to spend £20-25 on taxis. appalling TV set and reception. (one working channel!) room cold because radiator was not working(did not pursue this in the middle of the night!) wimpy shower, not what you need first thing in the morning.i was there for one night. I need a decent TV, warm room and a good shower followed by breakfast.1 out of 4 is not good enough.not going back
