Limpley Stoke Best WesternThe room we were given was not representative of the pictures on the internet (both on LateRooms and their website). We understand the hotel is undergoing renervations.Plenty of car parking, and staff friendly and efficient on arrival. Our room was in the attic, with a view of a portacabin. The room itself was not well ventilated, very hot, even with no heating and the window open. The bathroom was not clean on arrival - far from fithly, but a good bit off spotless. This being said, we paid £65 for the night - not extortionate by any means, so overall the value for money was not bad. (If I compare this to the Cork Radisson SAS where I paid £75 then it wasn't great). I would suggest better checking of rooms by housekeeping, because of the bathroom. The hotel itself was an old building, with some spectacular views. Confusing stairways, and a lift that felt unsafe did not add anything to the experience, although I understand that this is difficult to rectify and I have experienced this in more than one Best Western. The breakfast was good - a help-yourself buffet style, although, I am still waiting to be asked if I would like a hot drink. Pub at the end of the drive was excellent, a good meal at a fair price. We did not have dinner in the hotel. If all you are looking for is somewhere to put your head, then this is the place for you, but I wouldn't stay here on business, or would I bring my family.

As with many other reviewers I found this hotel to be faded and tired, and desparately in need of some serious refurbishment. Potentially a very elegant building, it seems to be genteely crumbling away. I was somewhat disconcerted to discover that the route to the fire exit on the first floor was through my room (Room 11) - I should have twigged when I noticed a key to my room fixed to the outside of my door in a GLASS CASE!! Had there been a fire, the fleeing guests would have had to climb over my bed to get to the exit, which was through the window and onto the flat roof which formed my only view from the room. I did not eat dinner in the hotel because it seemed extremely expensive, but did enjoy the facility of eating in the pub at the end of the drive (the Hop Poles) and charging the bill to my hotel bill. All in all the hotel (just) met my basic needs of a roof and bed for one night, but I would probably research more thoroughly before booking in this area again.

Directions to hotel poor. Check in was very rushed as the staff were actually eating a meal in the office behind reception. The room was uncomfortably overheated and the reaction to my pointing this out was \"yes we know that's why the fire escape is left open\" !! It was also quite small and overlooked a portacabin which was being used as an office. Certainly not the views spoken about on their website. The meal in the restaurant was good but as there were only four tables occupies the atmosphere was non-existent. The staff in the restaurant at dinner and breakfast were very efficient and nothing was a bother for them. The pub at the end of the drive was a bonus as again there was no atmosphere in the hotel bar.

We have stayed here many times due to price and late booking availability. Room 35 is lousy. There is constant noise from the stairs, en-suite is miniscule and tatty, floor slopes (so do the beds). Breakfast is ok but lacks good waitress service - tables are not cleared quickly enough and there is no welcome to the dining room. There is such a variance between room standards they ought to make this clear on the bookings. It does represent decent value for money if booked under laterooms - had we paid a higher price I would be asking for a refund.

Return visit to this lovely hotelMy daughter and I had an enjoyable stay at this hotel in November 2008 and returned because we enjoyed it so much on that occasion and it was conveniently located to places we wanted to visit on 24th and my son and family on 25th. Our twin-bedded room was ideal for us and we enjoyed a beautiful view. Staff in both restaurant and Reception were very friendly, helpful and efficient and dealt with the one problem we encountered quickly and very efficiently.

I was really surprised at some of the negative feedback this hotel has received. This hotel is rated 3 star and is a 3 star hotel, and in my opinion very reasonably priced. If people want 4 or 5 star then they should book that type of accomodation and pay for it, not complain afterwards about the hotel as it is what they paid for. Our room was clean and although wallpaper was dated the furniture and bathroom were quite new. The staff were very friendly, helpful and welcoming. I arrived at 1pm and check in time is 3pm but there was no problem and no extra charge for checking in early. The restaurant meals were absolutely fantastic, very well presented, extremely tasty and cooked to perfection, infact they were more than 3 star quality for sure. I would not hesitate in recommending this hotel to anyone wanting a good priced value for money hotel, and I would definitely stay there again.
