Room was clean and very attractive. Evening meal on our first night was not as good. Our table had a wonky leg. All the tables for two were placed very close together so it was difficult to have a conversation or evesdrop on others and the service was very poor - we waited 45 mins for our starter to arrive! The meal was OK but not great. Our breakfast experience wasn't great either. The plates for the breakfast buffet were cold and the much of the bacon was uncooked. The restaurant definitely lets the hotel down. Otherwise it is ideally placed to walk to the shops and having an on-site car park is a big plus.

lovely clean hotel, room smelled very fresh. Very friendly and polite staff. Great location. Would recommend, and would certainly stay again.

Short Break in YorkStayed at this hotel before. Very central for all amenities and visitor attractions. Room was very good and well heated. Staff very pleasant. Breakfast was good (where can you go wrong with tea, toast and bacon and eggs). Dinner in the evening was awful. Perhaps I made the wrong choice from the menu. It was also very expensive! However I enjoyed my stay despite this.

Comments on our Stay at The Grange.the staff were very pleasant on reception, the young lad serving breakfast too familiar calling my husband 'mate' and 'chief'.the room was nice, but very small, i expected something much larger. the lighting was very poor, being lit by lamps only, and there was no 'dressing table facility, just a table with the tv above, and a mirror above the tea/coffee table which was no good for doing hair/makeup. In adequate parking facilities, although staff willing to move vehicles about.

good location but very small room and bed! The hotel itself was quite good, well presented, clean, free parking, and a good location but only let down by the very small room (No34) which we were allocated and the size of the bed was a joke considering this was supposed to be a double, it was a 3/4 at best, for £110 per night you would expect a little better than this, Unfortunatley this spoilt our stay. When mentioning the bed size at reception on check out nothing at all was said in reply. Thanks and goodbye.

Tired hotel in need of TLC. Rooms need modernising. Disappointed with breakfast.....usually expect buffet style, but was served by a stroppy East European waiter with a half hearted full English..... minus the sausage and toast.
