We stayed here for a conference, but it felt like a luxurious vacation. The room was very well appointed, modern, very clean, and comfortable. The location is reasonably convenient for visiting the museum campus and the art institute. The room rate was excellent relative to the quality, though the parking rate was high (but it is in a big city...). We would definitely stay here again.

The Blackstone is run by a very young staff. That's fine, except they don't know and clearly have not been trained to show the genteel, accomodating ways that prevail at outstanding hotels with more experienced staff. I did not find the staff to be outgoing or warm; although, everyone was courteous and relatively competent the conceirge was perfunctory, and not very helpful. The check in desk put us in a room overlooking the HVAC and an airshaft -- inconceivable in a high quality hotel , unless it's 2 AM and the last room available. When I promptly challenged the room assignment we were moved. The bathroom in the second room had numerous long black hair on the floor. Yuck. By then, I was room fatigued, and just cleaned them up myself. The lounge chair in the room --which was, other than the above, extremely well appointed, although on the small side was extremely uncomfortable. When I asked for maintenance, the chair was replaced after which it was only somewhat uncomfortable. Finally, the Blackstone is a gorgeous old hotel, but the new rugs in the lobby are already dirty and tired -- which like condition of the lunge chairs indicates to me that the facility may have a maintenance problem. ALL THAT SAID, the location is superb walking distance from all museums, shopping, and transportation, and the rooms well appointed. If the hotel maintenance were better, and the staff on its game, this could easily be a 4.5 star facility. But I think that 3-3.5 is generous at the present time.

Was here for two nights on business. I had the standard room and thought it was one of the nicest hotel rooms I'd ever stayed in. Bell staff and front-desk were extremely friendly and helpful. This is an older hotel that has been beautifully updated and renovated.

The staff was extremely professional and the room was outstanding. 47.00 For hotel guest's 24 hour parking is a little steep even for Chicago. This is an historic hotel located on Michigan Ave. Just south of the Magnificent Mile. My wife and I were very pleased with the professionalism of the staff and we were extremely impressed with the decor and comfort of the room. The Blackstone is beautifully renovated and takes you back to old time Chicago with a warm, vibrant and romantic feel. I definitely recommend this hotel whether it's for business or pleasure.

Marriott now refuses to guarantee the type of room, ie number of beds. We reserved two double beds and it was changed by Marriott to 1 King. I e-mailed immediately, and supposodly they called the hotel and changed it, but when we arrived they knew nothing about this. We were told, first come, first served. So beware, if you will arrive after 3pm, and need anything but King, don't reserve here. They also take up room space with a mini fridge that only their products for sale can fit into, and 'snacks' for $ for small tin of peanuts, or jelly beans. In a room that charges almost $ per night I tire of this over the top attempt to take advantage. NO bath tubs, small rooms, beds uncomfortable, no top sheets, only comforter. If you are allergic stay away, everything is down. Rooms are newly renovated and trendy, but policies are not traveler friendly.

Elegant, creative decor. Very comfortable. Wanted 2 beds - couldn't get them. Beautifully decorated. Rooms are furnished with taste and comfort. We had a great view, even without being on the lake-ward side.

They provided robes. Free internet in the lobby, but charge for internet in the rooms. All in all, a nice hotel, with very friendly staff. The hotel didn't have a pool, but we were in town to visit tourist attractions, not live in the hotel. The hotel is in a safe location, and is within a 10-15 minute walk of eating establishments. Do not take young children to the hotel restaurant. I would have eaten there but I wasn't on an expense account (Dinner is around $60 a person).

The room was beautiful and spacious. The bed was so comfy. I slept soundly, unusual for me at a hotel. The shower in our room had very low water pressure. This is a great place to stay for a romantic time away. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Historic hotel, beautifully updated.
