The Blue Moon Gay Resort Las Vegas is an adult-only exclusively gay property situated off the Las Vegas Strip, approximately five miles from McCarran International Airport. Tropically themed with lush surroundings, Blue Moon Resort offers 33 Deluxe Rooms and 11 One Bedroom Parlor Suites. Deluxe Rooms are 400 sq. ft. offering one king or two double beds. Parlor Suites are 800 sq. ft. with a separate living room area, expanded bathroom with Roman Tub and walk-in closets. Smoking and pet friendly rooms are available. The 3-story property has interior hallways for privacy and security. Blue Moon is Las Vegas' only full service, all male resort. It includes a 10-man Jacuzzi grotto, lushly landscaped, lagoon pool, a state-of-the-art steam room, a full service Tour & Travel Desk offering all types of site seeing tour packages and Wireless Internet throughout the hotel. Local attractions include the Stratosphere hotel, The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace, and The Fashion Show Mall.

The rooms have recently been totally upgraded from basic motel decor to high-end designer chic. The rooms are spacious and the King bed exceptionally comfortable. And, despite being immediately adjacent to a major freeway, new double-pane windows provide a quiet environment. While the bathroom is on the small side, it features upgraded fixtures and is well-stocked with a variety of soaps and toiletries. However, several expected amenities are conspicuously absent. There is no clock or radio in the room (though the TV provides an audio feed for one local station), nor are any extra blankets available in the closet. The room could also benefit from an easy chair and/or a small table and chair. The only seating available is a single desk chair. The pool and spa area features lush landscaping and a waterfall (to help mask the noise of the freeway) and plently of lounge chairs for sunning (clothing is optional). Unfortunately, it was quite cool the days I stayed there, and the pool is, surprisingly, not heated. However, the available hot tub/spa and steam room provide toasty alternative waterworks. Unfortunately, all the efforts to upgrade the hotel end at the front entrance. The exterior and parking area are quite rundown while dirt and weeds provide the only landscaping. Since the hotel is in an industrial area, a more appealing exterior would provide a better sense of safety and security. And, given its location, I would recommend having a car available to get to the Vegas strip rather than walking, especially at night.
