Buffalo Mountain Lodge is located on Tunnel Mountain Road, in Banff, Alberta. The lodge is located on 9 acres of wooded land, with beautiful mountain views. Buffalo Mountain Lodge is a short two minute drive from the main street in Banff, and a short 20 minute walk. Banff is located just off the Trans Canada Highway, and is only a 1 1/2 hour drive from the Calgary International Airport. Access to neighboring attractions such as Lake Louise (56km) and Emerald Lake (94km) is excellent. Buffalo Mountain Lodge is a unique luxury true Canadian Rocky Mountain Lodge. The location of the lodge allows guests to enjoy their beautiful surroundings but allows them to still be located in Banff. The Rocky Mountain Cuisine is extraordinary and allows the guest to enjoy local cuisine. The wine list was awarded the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence from 1995-2002 and is the proud recipient of the Best of Award of excellence in 2003 and 2004. An outstanding collection of over 500 of the world's finest wines including Canadian VQA selections is available. The Main Lodge complements its natural setting with square timber, post and beam construction, and high open ceilings. Decor pays tribute to old-world craftsmanship, from custom made cherry, pine and bent-willow furnishings to copper and glass light fixtures. Simple, elegant design is a hallmark of the resort, and symbolizes the lifestyle at the Lodge. It includes a charming lounge with a huge fieldstone fireplace. Dining at Buffalo Mountain Lodge is a delicious departure from the ordinary as celebrated by the local and international media for the introduction of Rocky Mountain Cuisine. The meat is from Game Farm Ranche where Bison, Caribou, and Elk are raised. Smoked, cured or roasted wild game, fresh indigenous berries, wild fruits, vegetables, mushrooms and mixed grains are artfully assembled and professionally served. A restaurant called Cilantros that is on the property features lighter Californian Cuisine. The Lodge King guest rooms have one King size bed, wood burning fieldstone fireplaces and private baths. Room amenities include feather duvets and pillows, telephones, cable televisions, in-room coffee makers, clock radios, iron and ironing boards and hair dryers. All rooms have an exterior entrance. 1 kms to city centre, 1 minute walk to the nearest bus stop, 130 kms to the nearest airport (machrihanish).

The room was lovely, especially the fireplace and the bathroom; claw foot tub and slate floors, just beautiful. Quite on the outside, but a bit noisy on the inside, but it's not really a party place. It's more for relaxation.

the fireplace smell overwhelms this room. No microwave or fridge available. No view, just trees. bathroom was nice and big but needs counter space for toiletries.

We have a brand new baby and were looking for a place to stay for overnight getaway. We picked this hotel as we had stayed there for company Christmas party (excellent service if you're looking for this too). Staff set up playpen for our son to sleep in, had plate of cookies out (nice touch), and hand written card stating if we needed anything to contact front desk. Breakfast buffet was great, quiet, and service all around was wonderful. 5 stars from first time parents!!!!

We had a deluxe room that had a fireplace & vaulted ceiling. Gorgeous room with balcony! We've been here before & it's always a special treat on our trip. The outdoor hottub is surrounded by flower gardens. The fitness center is clean & has good equipment. Out of town but pretty setting. The lodge/restaurant is beautiful & has an excellent reputation for dining but we haven't eaten there. Fireplace came with the firewood. Cookies on arrival. A pleasure.

We loved our stay at the Lodge. The fireplace in the room was a treat and the scent form it was exactly what we wanted and expected. The service was wonderful, the hot tub perfect as was the view from our balcony We did not want a run of the mill hotel and were happy with the rustic feel of this one. We will definitely visit again and would highly recommend it to anyone travelling through the rockies.
