Caliente Tropics Hotel and Resort in Palm Springs, California offers a variety of room styles to accommodate your needs including king, queen/queen and suite style configurations. Each of our spacious Palm Springs guest rooms are designed for your comfort and come complete with luxury mattress sets, high-quality linens, coffee maker and complimentary coffee, compact refrigerator, in-room safes, hair dryers, iron and ironing board, cable TV, wireless internet, ceiling fans, air conditioning/heat and many other amenities you would expect from a great resort in Palm Springs, California. A large outdoor heated pool is paired with a spa tub. Complimentary wireless Internet access is available in the lobby, guestrooms, and suites. Smoking is allowed in public areas, but not in rooms. The hotel permits pets 35 pounds or under for a surcharge of $20 per pet per day. Each room is equipped with a refrigerator, coffee maker, in-room safe and air conditioning. The San Jacinto Mountains provide a scenic backdrop for many of the area golf courses. The Palm Springs metropolitan area hosts famous tournaments, including the Frank Sinatra Celebrity Invitational (Indian Wells Country Club), the Kraft Nabisco Championship (Mission Hills Country Club), and the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic (the Classic Club). The Escena Golf Club, six miles from the Caliente Tropics Resort, features Jack Nicklausdesigned courses. Less than seven miles from the hotel, the award-winning Cimarron Golf Resort offers two courses with spectacular views. The Classic Club, with courses designed by Arnold Palmer, is 15 miles away. A credit-card authorization will be obtained upon check-in for the amount equal to the current room balance plus $100 for incidentals, which may cover room damage, phone calls, pet fees, and extra-person charges. All guestrooms are nonsmoking. Guests may be charged a cleaning fee of $200 for smoking violations. Extra-person charges may apply and vary depending on hotel policy.

I just came to Palm Springs to get out of LA and see the desert close up for the first time. Palm Springs is a very nice litle resort community with lots of shops, restaurants, and m/hotels. I was very surprised at the quality of the room I got at Caliente Tropics considering how little I paid for it (though this was in the high heat of summer when prices are lower). Good size, very clean, simple and tastefully done, a good shower, and with a large TV. It did not have a cheap feel to it. I have paid the same price elsewhere while traveling and gotten far less value for the money. The frig was quite small and could not be made cooler, but was enough. I did not really appreciate that the tap water had a lot of white calcium in it (it did dissolve and disappear in the glass), so I bought water. Most people in the town use filters, and the water is not harmful. B/o these last two points I would have liked to give a rating of 4.5 rather than 5, but overall I was very satisfied. The pool is nice and clean also. Very relaxing, a good inexpensive place to be if you are just looking for very decent basics, and quite enough if you just want to get out of LA for a while! You do have to be able to tolerate very hot weather in July though and know how to deal with it. The restaurant is under renovation so I could not rate it properly.

The location was good and the room was nice as we had the king suite. Night staff was rude when called and kids ran back and forth on balcony. The room was very clean and nice. It was in a good location close to restaurants and Palm Springs strip. The night staff was rude when I called and asked for pillow. Was on our anniversary and kids where running back and forth passed our door until wee hours of the night.

I stayed here on business and found it to be a GREAT value. Room was large, clean and updated! Property was set up to be easy to access pool, front desk, food etc.

Great value for the money. Though located on E Palm Canyon, they can give you a room which is super quiet. Good linens, clean, large rooms, nice big pool. And a fridge. I completely relaxed and slept well there. Nice staff.

I do not usually stay on the south side of Palm Springs, but there were no rooms available at my usual spot. The hotel was ok--the staff were not very friendly--it almost seemed like I was bothering them when I checked in. The pool was nice, but other than that nothing special. I do really appreciate Shiloh Inn now, and I will always stay there or just not go.

I had booked a room for my family for a nice weekend. We were looking forward to room service but that was not the case. I checked in and asked about how was the room service, the front desk did not know what I was talking about. Apparently they have room service at all like it had said, it was already too late because I booked the room ahead and didn't follow through by calling before, my fault. Lesson learn call before booking. Other than that, the stay was pleasent. When we first walked in the room, it smelled like dog, so that wasn't a plus to the trip. I wouldn't recommend any of my friends to stay here.

Their rates vary widely according to occupancy. The night I booked this hotel, I was really nervous about how low the rate was....around $*. However, I ended up extending my stay for my entire trip and even brought over to the hotel four more families in my group. All of us were very, very pleased at the quality of the rooms, the care of the grounds and the excellent staff. I highly advise this hotel for anyone on any kind of a budget.

AIR CONDITIONING in the room is old and loud and you cannot sleep at night...rooms are not cleaned and people at front desk are never available to pick up phone calls.

This lush location w/ great views and very nicely appointed rooms is a quiet respite in the desert. Very good and great dining is near or on property. Staff is quite amenable and accomodating. Great stay.

really nice hotel great location, beautiful pool, nice rooms, very cozy and comfortable. but the AC system was too hot for me. It was on high and it was still hot in the room. but other than that, great hotel. deffinetely recommend it though (if you plan on bringing your own fan) :)
