The Hotel Chandler is a great base to explore New York,giving you a chance to live like a local. From the moment you arrive the service is fantastic from all the staff, the bellboys are a wealth of local knowledge. The tea and coffee in the lobby is a great idea,just grab one on your way out the door to explore the city or enjoy one in the fantastic libery with the paper and the internet. Though the rooms are petite, they are fitted out with the highest quality furnishings and linens of a much higher priced hotel. The beds are excellent, supper comfy. I am now hunting down the same linens as the Hotel Chandlers here in Australia along with the Aveda bath products. The bar just off the lobby is the place to go for a late night cocktail, many locals stop by for happy hour and a game on the big screen t.v. It is located near 3 subway lines making getting around Manhattan a breeze , and is an easy walk to many attractions and shopping areas. The Hotel Chandler is a true hidden jem in the city

We booked our room through online travel and got a good deal for a nice hotel. When we went to check in we were given a room with one queen bed for my teenager daughter and myself. We asked for a room with two doubles which they had several available but we were told that because our room rate was from online travel and the rooms rates through the hotel were really so much higher that we would have to pay an extra 40. We had to call Travelagent they called the hotel, we ended up paying 10 more through online travel and check-in took over an hour. The manager had a a major attitude and was not at all nice. We went to a show and came back to the hotel at 11:15 and I was going to get a drink at the bar but it was closed on a Saturday night. Breakfast buffet at the hotel was expensive for what it was. I would not stay here again because there are many good deals available on the internet and I hope other hotels will not hold it against me for using online travel.

The lobby and common areas of this hotel are a little worn, but the rooms are updated and very nice.

We had made reservations for three people. We were promised a room with two full size beds, when we got there we got a room with two twins. We complained and were told this it the room we were promised. THey promised to move us the next day. What was hard was that one of us had to sleep on the floor. The beds were comfortable for those who got to enjoy it. Location was good as well. This is definitelly not a family hotel, and is more a hotel for business travelers or couples. For the price we paid, the frustration put a damper on our vacation.
