A wonderful period hotel which could be described as a little \"quirky\". The restaurant is very atmospheric and the dinner was excellent. The cooked breakfast was also very good but the rest of the breakfast was lacking in choice and poorly presented. I felt that the staff lacked customer service training and there was insufficient staff to cover all the areas when events are being held at the hotel. It is key to have the reception area manned by more than one person when a number of guests are checking in at the same time. This gives their first impression of the hotel. It is a pity that attention to detail lets this hotel down as it is a lovely hotel in an interesting location. Having said that we enjoyed our stay.

Our turn this time!Our 3 children all spent their wedding nights at this hotel, so we thought we would treat ourselves on my husband's birthday. The hotel is situated in beautiful grounds and is full of character, however we did feel that in some parts the paintwork needed attention. We ate from the bar menu and the food was excellent. We would definitely stay again although I have never run so fast as when the cows in the next field started to chase us!!
