basically this hotel offers good value for the price, but the room we had had very thin walls and unfortunately we had 2 noisy females next door who shouted rather than spoke to each other and also the view from the window of large storage tanks was a bit of a let down. The staff were friendly and the breakfast was excellent. all in all it is pretty good value for a short stay in the area.

We've been to the Craigtay Hotel 3 times over the past two years and we would highly recommend it if you are looking for a decent place to go for a weekend. The hotel has a lovely bar and dining room and although the rooms are perhaps a little tired and in need of updating, they are immaculately clean and well looked after. Bedlinen and towels are fresh and the ensuite shower room is immaculate. The breakfast is lovely with a great 'help yourself' choice of cereals and fruit juices. You get a lovely British breakfast ie. bacon, eggs, sausage, blackpudding and mushroom with toast and tea/or coffee. You can even order smoked haddock and poached egg if you like that sort of start to the day, and of course porridge. The staff are lovely and helpful. The parking area is safe and there is plenty of room. Walking into Dundee takes about 20 mins and it is a fairly nice stroll downhill. There are regular buses that stop outside the door and the timetable is clearly displayed on the bus stop post. Taxis are easy to hail down on the way into town and there are plenty of taxi ranks if you are travelling back to the hotel late at night. We only paid £60 for a double room with breakfast - that's £30 each, booked through LateRooms.com. If you compare that to other hotels in Dundee, that's a good deal. We will certainly be going for a 4th time, again with LateRooms.com.

The craigtay hotel is a fine, family freindly, local hotel, we could not fault the service we were provided, also we stayed for breakfast which was very good, however the hotel needs some cosmetic upgrades, Bright green woodchip walls made us a little queesy, and bathroom amenities are very dated! a little re vamp would do this place wonders!fine to stay if stopping over though!

Good value for money, spacious clean roomsFor a business traveller, Craigtay offers good value for money. The pricipal problem I have experienced now on two occasions, is that the confirmed booking I made on Laterooms was not accepted by Craigtay on arrival and it was only following production of the Laterooms Confirmation booking form that they grudgingly accepted that we had a booking. This time they claimed that I had booked two rooms for three nights for the wrong month. As my booking was made on the 17th June for the 1st July, it is difficult to understand how this would have been booked by me for the 1st June.Other than this missunderstanding, our visit was quite pleasant and as I said, good value for money. The food is excellent.

My party was in Dundee for the Half Marathon event hosted by the city. On the day of the evnt we needed a light breakfast and a slightly delayed checkout time so that we could take showers after the race. The hotel was initially completely unaccommodating on both of these points. Their breakfast service stars at 8.30am on a Sunday, which was way too late for us so we went out and bought breakfast elsewhere although it was included in the cost of our rooms. We asked about late checkout (we asked for 12.30 pm) when we checked in and were told that it would not be possible for either of our two rooms. We asked again on Sunday morning and were eventually able to negotiate some flexibility. This lack of a service orientation was particularly disappointing because we were in town for a large public event that does Dundee's tourist image a lot of good.
