General Description

Cromwell's Inn is a privately owned ancient building in the centre of Shrewsbury offering comfortable modern accommodation. It boasts a snug Wine Bar and beautiful Restaurant and an amazing walled Garden that is the envy of the town. A local couple, Mike and Karen Avery, bought the building and ongoing business in June 2010. They have invested in major improvements to make our guests' stay even more welcoming. Recent improvements made in December 2010 include; secondary glazing to all road facing bedrooms fitted with special acoustic glass to reduce town centre noise and a new heating installation. More improvements are being planned. Our Restaurant offers first class locally sourced food cooked and prepared with passion. We are a Freehouse and choose our own beers and wines from international, national and local producers. We have a selection of Rooms offering a comfortable stay for our guests. We have two Rooms with beautiful Four Poster beds. Our Staff are friendly and professional and this is the key to our success.

Lovely hotel in an excellent location. Our room was perfectly adequate for our stay and all of the staff were very helpful and polite. My one suggestion would be for the vegetarian cooked breakfast to be a little more adventurous! Apart from that I would stay here again if visiting Shrewsbury and would recommend to others.

I would have liked to provide a full review of this hotel but unfortunately, our booking never registered and we arrived to find it full. Since it was our wedding aniversary you can imagine I was not best pleased.Since I have seen a similar problem for the hotel recently in the laterooms reviews, I can only believe that there is a problem when booking via laterooms and recommend that you book by other means if you want to stay here. The staff were excellent and found us an alternative hotel nearby.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The hotel is old, so it was a very quaint setting. The staff were very helpful and went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. We were given an upgraded room simply because it was available. The room was quite spacious, beds were comfortable and bedding/towels etc were good quality. It included a full english breakfast which was great, and we loved the garden patio portion of the restaurant. Great food. Would definitely stay here again. TV was very tiny.

Excellent customer serviceThe hotel had overbooked on the day we were due to arrive. However this was managed exceedingly well, I received a phone call on the morning explaining the problem- and alternative accomodation had already been arranged for us in a hotel three doors down. I was thoroughly impressed by how the situation was handled, and the difference in price was covered by Cromwells. I look forward to staying at Cromwells in the future.

Charming and top notch stay in heart of ShrewsburyThis great restaurant, bar, hotel just off Wyle Cop on Dogpole Lane in Shrewsbury (right next door to the cool Wisteria Lane boutique) is a great place to stay and / or have a meal. The staff were very friendly, helpful and efficient. The room was decorated to a high standard and all was newly redone (even though, as with most of Shrewsbury, the building is itself very old - best of both worlds). The shower was great and it was a relaxing environment. Highly recommend!

Visit to ShrewsburyEnjoyed stay, comfortable room, breakfast not too early. Quaint surroundings even if the floor was a little uneven! To be expected in an old building I expect

Friendly welcome on arrival and immediately shown to our room. The room was fairly small and cozy but adequate for our needs with en-suite shower. Bed was clean and comfortable although furniture is perhaps a little tired. Our room was at the front of the hotel near the road and there was some early morning traffic noise.Good Breakfast - full English, served by a very friendly lady. We would be happy to return to this hotel.

The breakfast served at the hotel was poor. The food was either undercooked, overcooked or cold. I Would not recommend the hotel for this reason, although the room was fine and the staff friendly and attentive. The location of the hotel is good and central, but be aware that there is no parking.

This is the first hotel in a long time that didn't supply a hairdrier.A very noisy room, overlooking the smoking area and over the kitchens. And they'd lost my booking.

An ideal place to stay if visiting Shrewsbury, right in the centre. Parking on meters or there are carparks close. Staff very friendly and food good.

Whilst the rooms were smaller, and slightly less well furnished than I had intitally expected (lacking a desk and the TV was rather outdated), the hotel staff were extremely curteous, welcoming and obliging. Ten out of ten for customer service. I'd booked the hotel as a romantic getaway and it did not disappoint, saving in room size as the decore and ambiance was charming if quirky, with a breakfast was of a very high quality, and the pleasant surprise of an outside roof terrace. I'd stay here again and recommend it to anyone.
