A lovely Hotel situated in nice locality just outside Carlisle. Very friendly staff and leisure facilities super. Good communication with reception staff telling me of Wedding function and possibility of \"noise\" which incidentally wasnt a problem but we were sited well away from the function room. The locality is very tranquil, a little oasis is the Crown Hotel.

Used as a stopover on long journey, large rooms, quiet location, very good customer service, restaurant and bar meals. Did not use retaurant but bar food good. Also has pool and gymn but did not make use of them.

Perfect weekend breakWe decided to treat ourselves to a weekend away in celebration of our wedding anniversary and we found the Crown on Laterooms.com. The price was well discounted and we booked an executive room. The week before travelling we received a phone call to let me know that they had a wedding booked and that we may be disturbed by music until 12.30am. I appreciated the call and in fact we were not disturbed and it did not have an effect on our weekend away. On arrival we were allocated the Drybeck suite - a well decorated, large and clean room with really good facilities. We had booked an evening meal for eight oclock and the food served was of the highest quality and absolutely delicious. The bar was reasonably priced as too was the wine with the meal and all the staff we met were a credit to the hotel - nothing was too much trouble. The only slight downer on our stay was the chamber maid knocked on our door at 9.30am on the Sunday to find out when we were booking out. We had decided to miss breakfast and to have a sleep in so this enquiry was not welcomed - she did ask nicely though. My only advise would be, if you plan to sleep in then put the 'do not disturb' notice on the door! I can honestly stay that its the best all round experience we have had in a hotel and that we are already planning a return trip.

When I booked we were told that we had a family room booked and when we arrived the room was a double and no bed for my son. The room itself was fine but we were told that the family room was now booked out and a bed would be put into our room. Not what we asked for!!The hotel was fine with an excellent loeisure facility. We ate off the bar food as the restaurant was extremely expensive. I went with fish and chips and the fish was mushy/watery but seemed edible. That day I only ate a cooked breakfast along with the rest of my party at a different hotel and we were all fine. However that night I was violently ill (the details I will not go into). The next day all was fine so I can only assume this was the fish. I would stay again but deffinitely would not eat there again.

This was one of the best hotels I have stayed inWe had an excellent stay at the Crown. The staff were cheerful and exceptionally helpful. We used the leisure facilities which were great and the breakfast was one of the best I have had.

The Crown could work for you. Caters predominantly fo weddings at weekends so be sure to checkThe Crown is a welcoming hotel in the picturesque village of Wetherall which coforms to it's 3* rating. Accomodation is essentailly sound. Unfortunately, I booked to stay with my young son and wasn't informed that a wedding was taking place. The allocated room was in the Annex directly above the wedding disco. This only came to light when we returned from football to our room at 8pm - to the sounds of Abba's 'Dancing Queen'.Reception did attempt to provide a more suitable alternative. There was only one suitable room available and this had a double bed (as opposed to a twin) and was directly above the kitchen; hence very noisy until after midnight. This disappointing experience could easily have been avoided if the staff had made the effort to give notice re the wedding. Attention to detail somewhat lacking.The Crown has a pub which serves adequate food and has a canny local pub feel. There's also a small health suite with swimming pool free to guests.The 'crown' in Wetherall is undoubtedly the village itself built around the central village green. Scenic river walks are simply outstanding -and justifiably popular with dog walkers. If you're lucky you may well see an Otter or two at play. A blissful river walk is sure to crown your stay in Wetherall.

Generally pleased with the hotel, food and value for money very good. Our room was a bit on the small side and the bed was uncomfortable. Leisure facilities were good.
