For the price this very central hotel is hard to beat, would've liked a double bed rather than two singles & would've preferred quilts to sheets but these are minor quibbles.

Perfect location, just at the top of Maid Marion Way, so very easy to find and right next to the Theatre Royal and the tram stop. A few metres down the road you are in market square. Being off the main square means it is quiet outside too and well-fitting windows block out any street noise well. Our room was big, bright, modern, very clean and comfy. Bright mediterreanean colours decor. King bed was two singles made up together which was fine. Good choice of satellite TV channels including the brilliant History channel! There was no mini-bar though which would have been nice. Air conditioning was excellent and very easy to control. Room was also well sound-proofed. We had only paid for the room and breakfast cost £8 but we did not have it in the end due to the fact brekkie finishes at 9.30am in the week which was too early for us! The breakfast room looked nice though in a big conservatory next to the bar. The whole atmosphere to us felt professional and business/conference guest friendly, and not very romantic, but it suited us very well for our short city break.

Was dissapointed that car park cost £10. This isnt mentioned on the website. At this price plus £60 I might have gone to another hotel with free parking.

having used this hotel for several years as a couple and a group visit I would use this hotel everytime

Maybe I was unlucky but I had a room on the top floor and there was a constant loud hum clearly audible in my room, from something like a ventilation system, that prevented me from sleeping. I even turned on the air conditioning in my room to (unsuccessfully) drown out the background noise. You could hear it right through the corridor. Not a restful night!

Room and food were value for money. Car parking is the main criticism, if it was raining heavily then you would get very wet in the walk from the NCP car Park to the hotel.
