General Description

Hotel dei Consoli is situated in Via Cola di Rienzo, near the stately Saint Peter's Square, in a small century-old building recently reconstructed in the Imperial style. The detailed cornices and columns have been created by the famed master plasterers of Naples noted for their work in the redecoration of the celebrated Reggia di Caserta. The hotel occupies three floors, which have been decorated and named accordingly--Piano dei Mappamondi, Piano dei Fiori and Piano delle Battaglie. The hotel terrace has a garden where breakfast is served. Here the guests can enjoy and relax in the vast arrangement of plants and flowers. Dei Consoli Hotel is a ten-minute walk from the famous Spanish Steps. The hotel is also less than a mile from Castel Angelo, Vatican Museum, St Peter, the underground, and other forms of public transportation. Olympic Stadium is one mile away, Trevi Fountain and the Colosseum are two miles away, and Rome Zoo and the American Embassy are four miles from the hotel. It is approximately 19 miles from the airport, Leonardo da Vinci, and Tivoli. All of the 26 rooms are furnished in the same elegant surroundings and have Italian pregiato wood, draperies and bedding of elegant silks, and the finest porcelain. All rooms have climate-control, Internet access, satellite television, hairdryer, and minibar. Handicap-accessible rooms are available.

The facility is immaculate. Very nice, clean rooms. Great breakfast. Great location for the Vatican, shopping and restaurants. Lots of shopping and restaurants in the area. Public transportation (bus, Metro) only 5 min walk. Walking distance to Piazza del Popolo. We will definitely stay here again the next time we're in Rome.

Fantastic bed and breakfast I would have liked a bar that was actually open. This hotel is wonderful. It had a fantastic breakfast the best we had on our entire trip. The locatin could not have been better. A wonderful place, I would definitely go back.

We had originally booked a 2 night stay at the Atlante Star hotel. When we arrived at the Atlante Star, the manager said that they had run out of hot water and that they have held a room at a hotel nearby called the Hotel Dei Consoli. We were a little frusturated until we met the staff at the Hotel Dei Consoli. They were more than eager to help us out in any way possible! The bellman would not let me carry our luggage, he insisted that we had as little to do as possible! The manager was very friendly and knowledgable!! He had no trouble speaking english and always answered any questions with ease. He also gave us recommendations on great local resturants and nearby spots to just relax and have a glass of wine in peace! The rooftop restaurant was absolutely beautiful and in the morning. The breakfast was delicious as well! Located just a walk away from St. Peter's Basilica and the Vatican Museum, we couldn't have asked for a better location!! The train station was also nearby and cheap at 1 Euro per person with access to the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain and the Colloseum. This hotel offers the best location so you'll never have to take a taxi or rent a car! WE WILL BE BACK AGAIN SOON AND WE WILL STAY AT THIS HOTEL!!!

The area for this hotel is like Rodeo Drive in CA. It is 3 blocks from Vatican City. The rooms were very up to date and clean. The staff was extra helpful. We had an early departure so I did not try the breakfast. 2 blocks from a taxi stand to the airport (40 Euro). Great place

The BEST service:courteous front desk- went out of their way to be helpful (e.g., give directions). The free breakfast was outrageous- coffees, Italian pastry, eggs, bacon, Italian rolls, fruit & fresh juice. Very clean room was nicely decorated with its own safe A/C control (very important). Great location - close to the Vatican, Basilica, shopping and transportation.. Can't say enough. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. YOU CAN'T GO WRONG. Eat next door at the Taverna Varrone - the food is great.

The place is 5 blocks from metro station and 5 blocks from the Vatican. It is about 15-20 min walk from everything. Nice pleasant area even late at night. The stuff is very helpfull. Excellent breackfast.
