I have just checked in. Chose this hotel due to good reviews. Staff is nice, room is clean & well appointed as advertised. HOWEVER-the valet parking is not optional-you must pay $20 p/nite to park. AND there is no wi-fi in rooms. Only in the lobby near the loud bar. Internet is available in rooms if you want to pay $12.95 for DSL on a short leash at the desk. The business center in the lobby charges for using the computer-you must swipe a credit card to activate it. I am astounded. This is a business hotel & they have the nerve to nickel dime their professional clientele. Screw the free cookie at check in. If I wanted a $*** room I'd go into the city. The desk clerk was apologetic & said they are considering making the business center free ( you mean like every other hotel?) I do not recommend this hotel until they change their ridiculous policies. My $*** room will be $*** now. Don't make my mistake.

The hotel is ideally located. The neighborhood is very clean and decorated beautifully. The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially X. He is so friendly and positive that he makes you feel like a long lost friend. Having never been to ""the city"" before, we were given DETAILED instructions on subways to take and what to look for. The guy is a real asset to the hotel!!!! Our room was even better than we expected. What a FANTASTIC time we had. Thank you!!

We stayed the weekend of July 4th. Our junior suite was very nice and spacious. We had a large living area, frig and microwave. There were 2 double beds and a huge bathroom. The view of NYC was spectacular, including the fireworks that reflected off the skyscraper next door. The only negative things noted were the following: the restaurant and the bar were closed on the 4th of July, and we did not know this when we booked our reservation. So we had to go out to eat, and found a Chili's next door which was great. We ate at Chil's both nights, however had to find it on our own.

We have stayed here before, but something must have changed (for the worse). The room stunk like a Vegas casino and the living room table was broken. The toilets flush very loudly so it is easy to track your neighbor's toiletry habits. One of three elevators was out of service and we got stuck in one of the other two. After a long wait for them to answer the intercom, they said they would "help us in a moment," certainly no urgency in their voice and no concern or apology. After another long wait we called the intercom again and there was no answer. We set off the alarm - no response. Finally the elevator reset itself and when we arrive in the lobby no one met us to see how we were or to offer a simple apology. I guess getting stuck is common place. We were very close to calling 911 due to the lack of response. It is a great location being walking distance to the PATH train station into NY, but if you come back after midnight (which is easy to do while in the city), be prepared for a very, very long wait. No, the trains do not run anywhere close to what is published. Their schedule says every 15-20 minutes after midnight, but It took us over an hour to get back to Jersey City. When these concerns were brought to the attention of the management, their reply was "I wish there was something we could do." How pathetic. I wish there was something they could have done as well. Our advice, stay clear - the management has obviously changed. If you are wiling to deal with the PATH trains, stay in Courtyard by Marriott or somewhere else.

Fantastic front desk help, clean, elegant rooms, and good location. There was nothing I didn't like about this hotel. The staff were uniformly helpful and courteous, the shuttle service was excellent, the view of the area from our room was very nice, and the location was great- close to PATH trains and restaurants. The rooms were very clean and spacious.

Rooms were large and very clean. The location in was tough to get to, spent a lot of time lost. The hotel is very difficult to locate. Tons of construction, and one way streets. Washington Street was blocked off just past the hotel due to a large crane in the road the whole 3 days. Had the pleasure of meeting the very grouchy evening supervisor that did give us a better room when we asked, but she was not pleasant. By better I mean not right next to the elevator with a view of a dumpster. The rooms were beautiful. Very clean, the bedding was top notch. Lots of pillows. The night clerk was very pleasant and helpful. He went out of his way to provide us with menus for local take-out, even called for us. Path train is 2 blocks down. No view of the city from any room in this hotel that I could see. A pool and a free breakfast would make this seem like a nice Hampton Inn.

The am staff was more hospitable and friendly. The front desk man was not helpful at all. Hotel is located in the busy district of Jersey City and accessible to many kinds of transportation to other key cities and New York. It is quite congested because it is very near Holland tunnel. The parking area was spacious although you have to pay $15 a day for it even if you are a guest. Talk about accommodation! The room is alright. But when we checked in we were surprised to see 1 king bed and there were 4 of us!

Good location. Friendly hotel staff. Good bathroom supplies. Spacious bathroom. Hotel does not have many rooms that could see NYC skylines. Internet not free. First of all, the staff was very friendly. When we were waiting about 10 minutes for the shuttle to the train station (3 minutes by walking, didn't realize at the time though), one of the staff asked us where we are headed to/what we are waiting for/ and got us a free cab from the hotel. Needless to say, the location is great 3 minutes to New Port station that takes you to Downtown NYC in less than 10 minutes. The room itself was pretty good with comfy beds. You could only see a smallest portion of NYC skyline though. There is free wireless internet on the lobby which has a lot of sofas and desks, but if u want it in your room or have anything printed there is a charge of 10 dollars plus some cents per page.

It had a very nice bed, work desk, refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker. The bathroom was very good too. Clean and big with lots of towels and neutrogena products. The only thing i wish I asked for was a better view but otherwise it was a very good room.

Its location. The treatment I received from the staff and manager. The hotel is located in a nice area of Jersey City, but I found it to be in shocking disrepair. The bed was exceptionally good, the room was extremely clean. Hooker in lobby; desk clerk answered 2 questions wrong; beer bottles in elevator. The hotel appears to be a destination for revelers on weekends. There were numerous different groups occupying the premises for seeming weekend getaways. My sleep was interrupted numerous times by intoxicated persons communicating too loudly in the hallway. Beer bottles were left overnight in the elevators. The bathroom tub was too slippery and there was no bathmat to counter the dangerous surface. I was never given a final receipt underneath my door as promised.

Large, suite-like rooms Cramped furniture arrangement. Only one staff member was outstanding, the others were below average. Location was good, two blocks to PATH train to NYC. Bed was comfortable, soundproofing was poor, especially for elevator "dings" and loud running water in nearby rooms, and voices in hallway. High marks for bed comfort, large room, and many transit options and poor for customer service and soundproofing.

The cookies. Star ranking was too high for the hotel itself. Hotel was alright. Nothing exciting. The views of the city were hindered by buildings but still viewable. Location was fine but being closer to the Hudson would have been a little better. Restaurants were within close proximity and overall prices were reasonable. Also fairly close to the path (1.5 blocks). Parking was about as cheap as it gets for the NYC area at $15 bucks a day.

We were in NJ for a wedding. The staff was very helpful in providing assistance and transportation to wedding venue. The catered food at one event was excellent, and the room was great. This is located conveniently within walking distance of food, the light rail and PATH train and a mall. Would definitely stay here again. The ONLY downfall is that there is no shuttle from the Newark airport and it does take three trains (Airtrain from terminal to rail station; NJ Transit to Newark Penn Station ($7.50 each one way) and the PATH (change trains at Journal Square, $1.50 each one way) from the airport , or you can take a taxi or a car service.

Great location with fast front desk service. The lobby was a little small and crowded and our room was next to the rail road tracks. When we checked in, we were pleasantly surprised to find that we were upgraded to a huge room with a kind size bed. The room was well equipped with a kitchenette and seating area. The down side was that it overlooked the train tracks. The front desk service was helpful and fast despite the basic lobby furnishings. Good experience!

The staff was super friendly, and I loved the location (close to PATH train & grocery store) Not much I can say about dislikes. The staff was very friendly and the room was large. Possibly the biggest bang for the buck you can get from Jersey City -- I heard Hyatt is also very good but I haven't stayed there so I cannot make any comments on that.Just be aware that if you bring your car, $10/night will be charged for parking there. Hyatt charges a few more dollars, but Candlewood lets you park for free. The choice is up to you.

Good lower price alternative for Manhattan. Most suites have only one bed and no fold-out This is a good alternative for people wishing to go to Manhattan, but wanting to save money. Not only is the rate much less, but parking is only $15 per night, in/out in a surface lot. There is a two block walk to the PATH station, which takes you to various points in lower and mid-town Manhattan. The train ride into the city can be long, though, depending on the time of day, where you are going, and how you happen to hit the trains when you enter the station. I have had times when it's taken an hour to get from somewhere in mid-town to the hotel. That said, the hotel itself is fine, and the area around it is good, too.

Friendly staff. Exercise room was closed, wouldn't change me from a queen bed to a king. The hotel is nicely located in Jersey City, Not too far from the path into Manhattan. It's clean, the staff is very friendly. I however had called ahead of time and asked for a king bed or 2 doubles. I got a queen.

Amazingly comfortable bed, very relaxing after walking all day. A pool would make this place even better. Very friendly and helpful staff. Genuinely kind. The bed, shower and room were well cleaned and inviting. I enjoyed some of the best sleep in weeks in that bed!

Comfort of the bees was unbelievable I wanted to take the pillows along home it was roomy and the staff were very helpful. The drinks were awful in the pub and way overpriced. Location was good if you cannot stay in the city less than 2 blocks to the path system and then a 10 min ride to new York city price was less than half what the city was charging the room was spacious for three and the bed and pillows were the best I have ever slept on.

The hotel experience we had was one of the best. From the time we stepped foot in the hotel we were given a warm welcome and friendly service. I also think the warm cookies given to each guest once they check in is a very nice touch. Once we got up into the room I was taken aback, with all the amenities as well as the size of the room for the price. Thd only negative side was the construction going on, but they apologized numerous time with signs as well as online letting people know sorry for the inconvenience. The location was superb. Right across from the Newport Mall and the PATH train, and right next to the lightrail. This was one of the best little getaways I've had in a long time and we will definitely be back there. I would also like to put a little side note to the gentleman at the front desk named [...]. He is by far one of the friendliest people I have met. Whenever he was at the desk he greated us with a smile, gave us small talk and took the time to tell us about some of the sites. He deserves and award for the customer service that he gives because I know some of the people that come in the hotel probably are not as easy going as we were, yet his smile never left.

Location is not bad. Staffs. Parking policy. The staffs are very mean. They would charge you additional fees for two beds room. There are lots of parking beside the hotel. But they still charge you parking fee for $10 a night.

Great alternative to NYC Manhattan hotels. Not enough non smoking rooms Only a 5-10 minute to Path station (for subway access going to Manhattan). Parking is extra $10/day but not excessive.

Refrigerator and couch. No pool, bedroom area small, no wireless internet in the rooms only in the lobby. Card to access elevator did not work several different times, had to get a new card (key) at the front desk.

Very close to destination. Very nice room and very comfortable bed. Exceeded our expectations. Toilet had not been cleaned well. Wonderful place to stay. The accommodations were generous and well appointed. Highly recommend this hotel.
