The room was spacious and the staff was attentive to our requests. The worst thing I can say is that the elevators were small! This is a great hotel! The room was spacious and bright and conveniently located to Grand Central Station, so we got everywhere in the City we wanted to go in a matter of minutes!

Spaciousness of room. Hotel needs to be remodeled, also Bedspread outdated and worn. Pleasant and efficient staff. Bathroom linens very fresh and enough were in the room for guests use without having to call for additional ones.

Room was very spacious. Sofa bed was very uncomfortable. Great location, great staff, large rooms with kitchen. The restaurant was closed for remodeling while we were there, but they referred us to a corner restaurant, which was delicious. I would definitely stay there again!

Very helpful staff. Bed very hard and uncomfortable. Hotel needed renovations. For my purpose in New York City, hotel locations was great, centrally located. Very helpful staff. Room was an efficiency apt. Extra room great. However, the hotel was in need of renovations. Dated furniture and the bed was very hard and uncomfortable for me.

Very good location. Lobby is small and not that clean, a little bit smelly. If you want a cheap but spacious room with kitchen facilities that just 5 minutes from the Grand Central Station - that's it!

The hotel allowed us to check in early so we could get to an event. The room key needed to be re-activated a couple times. Great location, friendly staff. Small hotel lobby and elevators, but large rooms.

The hotel was in a good location - only a few blocks from 5th Ave. Nothing fancy, but great for the price. The staff was friendly and very helpful.

Great location, friendly staff. Great location, friendly and accommodating staff. It has wonderful amenities: refrigerator, microwave, gym, ample closet space. However, the room looks a little old.

Quite Neighborhood and roomy accommodations. Decor is horrible, from the 70's/80's, very dated, badly in need of remodel. Location was far from subway, but nice quite neighborhood of Murray Hill. A couple of blocks from Grand Central Station, but not close enough to Subway if you've been walking all day. This place is in desperate need of renovations. Business would probably be better if the facilities were a little more modern. Apparently this building used to be an apartment building, so the rooms, as a hotel, are quite roomy. I would not stay here again unless the stay was free.

Big rooms with kitchen. Good location. Smoking floors. Rooms need to be renovated. Good location for most things in NYC. Rooms are large with kitchens but need to be updated. Odor from smoking floors can be smelled throughout hotel. Needs a restaurant and/or bar (though there is plenty to choose from nearby). No pool, but plenty of families staying here because of room/suite size is generous.

The room was very spacious and was quiet. We would like to see the dining area opened. It was a good stay for us - was a little out of the way from places we were going but the hotel suited us fine this time. No real complaints.

This hotel is shabby, and caters to a backpacker kind of crowd. My room was very warm and there was no way to adjust the temperature. There are so many great hotels close by, like the W...I would not choose this one again.

Stayed just 2 nights with Bride & 10 year old Daughter, The room was very large and clean. The hotel is located a bit out of the way, but with in easy walking distance to Grand Central Station, The area is a nice area. I will gladly stay there again. The staff was both Friendly and helpful. A relaxing place to unwind after touring the town.

Love this place! Our family of 4 (2 kids ages 10 and 17) enjoyed a relaxing stay at the Eastgate. You are near so many things (shops, Grand Central Station, restaurants, local stores to pick up fruits and such) that it makes being away from home easy. Our room had a wonderful kitchenette and we found ourselves eating lunch or a quick snack there; then, off again to another attraction. The staff were always friendly and helpful-- guiding us to the ""best"" places to visit. They have a small but nice workout room that my son used daily to run/workout and the outdoor sitting area next to this hotel made it fun to people watch and enjoy NY. Would and will stay here again and suggest to others as well.

My only regret about this stay is that I didn't have my family with me. I reserved a studio but got a HUGE one-bedroom suite. I was in town for a meeting that was within walking distance and the price was amazing for midtown Manhattan. Not much of a lobby and no restaurant on premises but I had a very tasty dinner at a Lebanese restaurant about 25 feet away. I found everything to be tastefully decorated although admittedly not the most up to date. The bed was comfortable, the couch was comfortable, the television worked fine and the shower was terrific. I would absolutely stay here again.

The location was good; front desk staff helpful. Might have been nice for more than a night's stay. It was a drab, dark hotel,. It was a drab, dark hotel, which I did not feel was worth. The location was good; however, and the front desk staff that attended us were all helpful and friendly.

The bathroom was the best part of the room. The lights made a terrible buzzing noise, the dishes in the kitchenette were crusted with dirt.

Large room with kitchen; safe neighborhood; good access to subway. Furnishings a bit dated; carpet wasvery dingy. We arrived just after 10:00 am and were able to check into our room, which was great! Our junior suite included a full kitchen, king bed and large sleeper sofa - a great set-up for 2 adults and 2 young children. The suite had 3 closets, as well as a double dresser and 2 night stands, so plenty of storage space for clothes and luggage. The furnishings were simple and clean; the carpet was rather dingy and needs to be thoroughly cleaned or replaced. The bathroom had limited counter space, but ample storage. The hotel is less than a 10-minute walk from Grand Central, and we took the subway everywhere. The Empire State Building and Times Square were within walking distance. The neighborhood is safe, with a mix of offices, residences and some small restaurants and shops. Bagels & More on 3rd Ave. at 39th was great for a quick take-out breakfast. Overall, this hotel was a great value and a great set-up for a family vacation.

It won't take 20 words. The location was good. Unclean, smelled like smoke, seemed like a Residence hotel. The hotel is not clean. This is the first and most important issue. The hallways were dirty and smoky smelling. There may have been cursory vacuuming, but move one piece of furniture and you can see years worth of dust, a half consumed lollipop, a pen. This was bad. I should at least be able to expect Cleanliness.

The hotel recommendations for food were good. The heat was always on. Thirty minutes walking to central park, 20 minutes to times square, quiet rooms, friendly staff.
