excellent hotel.we were contacted by the hotel prior to our stay, asking us if there were any special requirements etc and whether we wanted a double/twin room. i said we were going for my partner's birthday, and when we arrived at our room, there was a note wishing happy birthday and a bottle of wine.we stayed in room 503, which was a large corner room with en-suite shower room. maid service daily - room and rest of hotel spotless.breakfast was an assortment of pastries, cereal, fruit salad, bread, cheese, and tea/coffee/juice/water to drink.it was a buffet, and there was plenty to fill you up for the day.staff extremely helpful. on arrival we were given a map of the city, and the main attractions - which are all within 40min walking distance of the hotel - highlighted for us. we were also recommended a couple of restaurants nearby which were good.hotel is in a lovely, safe area, no problems walking around at night. nearest tube - barberini - is a minute's walk. trevi fountain 3mins away, spanish steps and pantheon about 8mins. location absolutely perfect.word of advice - some of the restaurants are quite rubbish - rude staff and mediocre food. \"it's amore\" just down the road was poor, as was the bruschetteria off via arenula near the river (which somehow managed to get amazing write up in the rough guide to rome - don't know how!)good place to eat was \"carlo menta\" on via della lungretta in travestere - lovely food, great service, and pizzas only 4 euro (£2.70)!! alcohol and soft drinks are generally pretty expensive compared to england - between 3 and 5 euro for a can of pop in restaurants. a litre of water's about 2 euro, and wine from 5 euro upwards for a 0.5 litre bottle, depending on where you are. spirits and alcopops upwards of 4 euro. the travestere region is the cheapest to eat out, but generally speaking, apart from really swanky restaurants, prices are quite uniform.oh, when you arrive at ciampino airport, get the bus that costs about 6 euro and take

There are 2 things I like about this hotel, location and friendly service. The beds and pillows were not very comfortable, and the telephone in our room is not even working, at least they should have tried fixing it while we were there. But no efforts whatsoever. No microwave, or hairdryer. Really just the basics, bed and bathroom. Breakfast was ok. I thought we would be eating with the rest of the guests in the terrace, but I don't understand why we end up getting the breakfast delivered in our room.

Good value accommodation. Not suitable for some people with disabilities. Great location and just minutes from most major attractions and subway. Staff were very helpful, polite and pleasant. The safes in the bedrooms were particularly handy. There are lots of places to eat to suit all budgets, we even managed to find somewhere at xmas without a pre booking. We wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. Not sure if suitable for a family with small children due to stairs and small lift, but older kids would be fine. Fin
