General Description

Grand Seigneur Hotel building is 107 years old. It belongs to the family since 1936 and has been used for different functions. The hotel restoration took 3 years. It is decorated with handy-crafts, engravings, paintings which are reflecting Ottoman naval force history and different periods of Turkey's history. The hotel took his name from the nickname of the first Ottoman naval Capitain H?ayrettin Pa?66 ? 1476 - 1546 ). During his period, Europeans called him Barbe Rose (in French words) because of his red beard. Gradually, these words changed and became ''Barbaros''. At the same time, due to his great success in several wars - especially in preveze ( 1538 )he was also called as ''Grand Seigneur'' in Mediterrean. Special Class Hotel is like a colorful page from different ages of history reflecting both art and the rich cultural heritage of modern Turkey.
