The hotel was undergoing renovation when we arrived but the staff made up for any inconvenience. The hotel is very central and the room was fantastic and at a very reasonable price.

Value for money accommodation in refurbished central hotelThe hotel has been refurbished to a high standard. Some minor works still to do (hanging wires) but nothing obtrusive. Centrally located next to the rail station with own car park at rear. Room on second floor was large and quiet. A late key would have been useful as we had to wait to be let in on the first night. Difficult to see where you would get better value for money when in Carlisle.

We had stayed at a 5 star hotel the two evenings before coming to stay at the Lakes Court so after staying in such luxurious surroundings we were bound to be a little disappointed. However, the room was clean although we were overlooking the back of the hotel which made the room dark and obviously gave us no view. The bedroom was clean but cold during the night and there was only one blanket on the bed. Reception staff could have been pleasanter but the bar staff and restaurant staff made up for it.Breakfast was disappointing as we had expected a larger Full English and the continental breakfast offered little in the way of choice, with the fruit being tinned and not fresh. The hotel was central and as the weather was disappointing it meant we were close to the town to call back into the hotel when the rain was pouring down!A good stop-over hotel for those not planning to stay too long.

Had some trouble finding the place initially when entering the city from the west but the railway station is better signposted from other directions and the hotel is next to it. They have a car park but it wasn't looked after very well i.e. rusty nails and screws on the floor + bird droppings everywhere. Didn't have a meal there but the cooked breakfast was ok.

A decent but slightly overpriced stopover hotelThe hotel was very nice, obviously recently refurbished. While parking is available it is restricted so don't presume you'll get a space. Plus you have to cross a lane at the back of the hotel to get to the car park which is completely blind due to the large wall and unfortunately we had a bump with another car which wasn't a great start to the holiday. So be careful! The room was very spacious (bathroom was huge) but noisy, at side of hotel right beside the station. However it was noisy all night with the hotel just being round the corner from the main high street with the pubs and clubs. A decent if not slightly expensive hotel but did the job for a stopover.

made very welcome. though some parts of the hotel are in need of a refurb. No complaints - room comfy and quite spacious. Next to then railway station, but never disturbed by the trains.

The hotel is a really old building right next door to Carlisle train station, obviously part of Carlisles history. Its location is perfect for exploring the city and visiting the local bars and restaurants. The hotel is functional and has a nice bar etc. but could do with a spruce up, some of the decoration and room facilities are very old and the windows don't shut properly. The bed however was most comfortable and really that is all I needed (Could've been the wine though!)

Arrival was swift and efficient however, that's where it ended. The breakfast was basic, cold, hard and the toast was sad - to say the least. When asked to exchange it, you would think I had asked the clock to be turned back! At least the 2nd attempt was warmer and the toast slightly crispier. The Night Porter was super and couldn't do enough for us. However, when I approached Reception having discovered our room had not been serviced, the only comment was that they could provide us with clean towels but as the cleaning staff had left for the day there was nothing else they could do. They delivered towels but did nothing else - even leaving the bins and dirty cups lying around.To add misery to injury, when approaching the Bar Staff the looks of disgust and attutiude left little to the imagination - especialy when trying to charge things to the room! It just all seemed far too much hasstle to her; the mumbles under her breath as she totally ignored my request for a 2nd drink and turned her back can only be described as disgusting.All the above was raised with the cleaning manager, the reeptionist and duty manager - the attitude and comment - \"well, mistakes happen\"Again, the night porter was super and our praises to him for all his assistance.
