Just off the beaten path, this Hampton offered a clean and friendly environment. Our family enjoyed our stay in NYC with theatre and other attractions within walkable distances or only a short cab ride. The subway was also convenient for places a little further.

We stayed at the Hampton Inn/Chelsea, and we were very pleased with the service, breakfast was good, rooms were comfortable and clean, not huge rooms, but fine since we were out all day. Good location, near art galleries, not far from Empire State Bldg. Ate at Empire Diner, very good, and also at Patsy's Pizzaria, very good also. A market close by with take-out was a plus. Uses subway system and felt safe and much quicker and cheaper than the cabs.

hotel was in a quiet neighborhood with a Whole Foods Market one block away, many neighborhood restaurants nearby, subway station around the corner. Room was clean and comfortable, complimentary hot breakfast was good, with fresh fruit and orange juice, pastries, hot entrees. Had two queen beds - better than most hotels with two doubles. A long walk to Times Square, but cabs and subways are easy to catch.

Good value for the money. I found out you can stay further uptown but for more $$$. The room was very attractively decorated and all the staff were extremely helpful. Rooms are smaller than the photos look on the internet but hey you're in Mahattan and who expects a big room? You still have plenty of room to move around. Bed was comfortable and the breakfast was great featuring both hot and cold items every morning. Also, they changed the menu from am to am and that was good. Also, you have computers in the lobby with internet access which I appreciated since I did not bring my laptop. There are resturants, banks, drugs stores nearby where you can grab the stuff you forget to bring, cheaper sodas or replace stuff you have to throw out in the airplort. Taxis and buses are easily found on 6th and 7th streets (the 2 major crossstreets.) My only concern was walking around the block at night because the street is quiet (which is good) but there are also not a lot of people around after dark. Overall, good hotel - worth the money. Empire State Building is about 10 blocks up and Madison PARK (not the venue) is 2 blocks over.

This hotel was great! The rooms were clean, the staff very professional. The free breakfast was healthy. This was a family vacation and my husband and I had our three sons with us. It's not the best location to stay at being that you are so far away from Times square however, if you stayed closer you would have to pay more I'm sure. There is a star bucks right across the street, CVS pharmacy and whole foods. Also the little pizza place right on the corner same street as hotel was really good but closed at 8:30 p.m. Taxi rides were a bit high but then that's New York, stay with either the subway by getting a metro pass and learning the lines or go with yellow taxis and not black cars which really charge you a very high price. Bubba Gump Shrimp at Times Square was AWESOME! Another place to eat was located right beside the Empire State Building (beer place) which served some wonderful sweet potatoes and pork loin plus the waitress was very welcoming and accomdiating about my husband and I sharing a plate. Everyone we met was nice to us Southerners :)

Last year we chose this hotel for the queen beds, breakfast included, safe neighborhood & good price. This yr we returned for the same reasons plus the great staff, close subway access, local stores and dining options. Depending on which way you walk from the hotel door, you are 1 block from the subway access, from a grocery store, a drug store, an electronics store, and several good family resturants. I doubt we'll ever stay anywhere else when we return to New York City for future trips. On the possible downside, there is no swimming pool and a very small fitness room. Those features were not important to us but may be to someone else. There are no dining options in or adjoining the hotel but there are many choices nearby, including several that will deliver to the hotel.

Our 2 bed room was not ready when we arrived at 4pm(check-in was 3pm). We were told we could wait, but instead just opted for a 1 queen bed since we were only staying for 1 night. The shower head in the bath was awful, only half of the water came through. There was hardly any water pressure and was it pulled out of the wall. Rooms were tiny, no safebox, the A/C heating unit was also quite shabby. My toiletries must have been left over from previous guests b/c the packaging had dried water mark crust on them. The bed and blankets/sheets were very comfortable and soft. Overall it was DECENT, GOOD ENOUGH. We were only using the place to get ready to go out and to sleep. Only stayed here because the usual hotel we stay was book. We'll be going back to our usual hotel from now on. p.s the "fitness facility" is the size of a walk-in closet with 2 treadmills

This was my first time at the Chelsea Hampton Inn, and I was impressed. The room was comfortable and clean, the staff was outstanding, and the location was perfect (at least for my purposes that weekend). Easy access to at least 3 subway lines and within walking distance to City Bakery AND Murray's Bagels! My only complaint was the smoke detector in the room. With the occlusive shades shut tightly, the smoke detector's blinking green LED made it hard to sleep for my girlfriend. Fortunately, with my jacket and some improvisation, we were able to cover up the smoke detector and it didn't bother us the other two nights we were there. I highly recommend staying here if you have plans in the Chelsea area or SoHo.

Very nice place in a great area for a very reasonable NY price. I highly recommend it. The rooms are all new with new bathrooms and free internet. Friendly and helpful staff and easy check in and check out. I'll definitely stay there the next time! Free breakfast is a bonus too!

I liked Jessica, who was very nice and professional at the front desk. She should provide training to other hotel staff. Hotel was super clean and in a great location.
