Wilmington is a wonderful city. The Hilton is OK. The location is perfect. The hotel is a bit tired, but appears to be in process of being renovated. There is probably no alternative hotel on the river in the center of the city. There are some truly great B&Bs there, but you pay for what you get.

We stayed at the Hilton for a friend's wedding. The hotel is under construction and their was no mention of that when we booked. We had a huge crane outside our window. Our riverview room also had a great view of the construction trash dumpster with the sounds of saws all day to go with it. There were workers all through the hotel and one of them cat-called my wife. The Ruth's Chris isn't open yet but is touted by their website. The shower in our room had a hand-held sprayer on a bar. The bar was mounted too low (3 feet hight)making it impossible to use as a shower. The overall quality of the remodel was horrible in our room, not worth the $200+ we paid per night. The staff was great but someone needs to fire their contractors and update their website stating the ongoing construction..

While they are still undergoing construction, this hotel is very nice. I stay here a few nights every other month and know the staff by name. The new furniture and bedding is really nice. I love the new coffee makers that dispense into single cups. Sitting my room and overlooking the Cape Fear River is so nice. Breathtaking view at sunset. The old restaurant was good, but the new restaurant promises to be even better. Parking is expensive here and it is hard to find a spot at times. Location is excellent - you can walk to many shops and places to eat. Book in advance as they stay full all of the time. On site security guard.

I was planning on staying 2 nights. The first night we got there I heard a dripping noise all night that was coming from my a/c unit. That night I could not get any sleep. The next day I went to the front desk and told them about my issue. They moved me too a different room a gave me the night free. The best service ever!!!

I've stayed at many Hiltons and this is about average. it's an older property but some of the floors have been redone. The staff is somewhat lax and aren't totally what I normally expect at a Hilton. The rooms are nice. Nice beds, nice sheets. The best thing about the Hilton is the location. It's right downtown within walking distance to everything downtown.
