Directions and hints by staff! Quick elevators! Allowed us to use microwave in restaurant. Dirty hotel, parking, room size, and lack of amenities. Hotel floors and hallways were disgusting! The only clean place was the lobby. Staff was never around for help! Her directions and tips for sights were so helpful! Valet took forever to retrieve car. Surrounding area was not safe for anyone. Coffee maker was under TV and it was hard to reach and use. No trash bags were provided for trash cans. Even though we had three people and were placed in a room with only a double bed, it was a very miserable stay with not enough room to sleep! When asked about it the hotel wanted to charge us to have two doubles.

The rooms were clean and the beds were very comfortable. The hotel said they could not guarantee room type. The first night one of the group had to sleep on the floor. The next day they found a room with two beds. The location was away from the hassle of midtown between Chinatown and Little Italy with a lot of neat places to eat, and a lot of counter fit watches and purses for sale. Fun trip.

Good location, very friendly and helpful staff. The hallways looked cheap, the room was tight. Good location. Friendly staff. Pleasant lobby, but hallways and rooms not up to a 3-star upscale level. Room was pleasant, but crammed. Too little space for luggage.

Hotel is in a great location, friendly staff. Rooms were of course small, but clean. Standard decor. . Right by the 6 (takes you up to the Met and Guggenheim) and other lines close by (1-2 blocks) as well if you need to get to Times Square. Very reasonable price at the time of booking.

The room we stayed in had two queen beds. The floor space was minimal. For the two of us traveling together, we had to choreograph our movements to get to and from the bathroom and closet. It was adequate for our needs but not generous.

In all of my travels, the Marriott Courtyard hotels have been a wonderful experience. The reason being is what I call "a simple elegance". Their morning breakfast buffet is just enough to get me started, the room are very celan and spacious enough and the treadmill is all that I need. The most importnat aspect is the ease in which I can get in and out of the hotel. There is just enough staff to provide superior service without overwhelming you. Plus, the "points" are really cool and I use them whenever possible.

Staff excellent. Assigned tiny and smoke filled room for first two nights. Hotel calls itself Holiday Inn Soho but really should be Holiday Inn Chinatown. Not most fabulous neighborhood. Right at subway stop so easy to go anywhere from there. Staff very helpful and attentive. Unfortunately place was completely booked and we got a tiny smoke-filled room for the first two nights. After that they moved us in to a nice smoke-free room while we were out. Adequate but not amazing hotel.

The doorman was very friendly. They were not accommodating. The room was tiny and I would not recommend this place for a family. If you plan on exploring NYC and don't care about a comfortable place to rest your head, then it suits this purpose. If you don't care being put in a smoking room or handicap accessible room with a full size bed (TINY), then go for it.

Very nice neighborhood and friendly personal. The room was a little bit too small. Our vacancy in the Holiday Inn was very nice. From the hotel you get in two minutes to the metro and you arrive in less then 30 minutes everything in Manhattan. The hotel was clean and is good to stay for a whole week.

It met my expectations. It's location is great for someone who's enjoys in the middle of the action. The room was not large but rather big by New York standards. Even though we were on the 6th floor, we could still hear the sound of the subway passing by, but it was not a big problem.

The staff was very nice, the decor was attractive. My room was stifling hot with heat on at its lowest setting-freezing with heat off. The room was extremely tiny-if I hadn't been alone-it would have been impossible. Unable to control temp to a comfortable level. And there was a very funny smell in the hall way -overpowering. However desk staff and bartender and bellhops all nice pleasant helpful.

It's location in Soho was close to many things I like in NYC. It was a dump. The Holiday Inn Downtown (Lafayette at Howard) is an old building with very small rooms and none of the amenities I would expect for a hotel with its star. The food, I had breakfast on my last morning, was inedible and expensive $25 for the breakfast buffet that served cold, rubbery eggs. Fortunately for me, I was more interested in doing things in the city, so the hotel stay was a minimal part of my enjoyment.

Downtown location, efficient staff, security, cleanliness. Price. Hotel is fine, convenient to downtown and subway, clean and secure. Hotel prices in Manhattan are geared to Europeans and others who can take advantage of the extremely weak dollar so every hotel is overpriced and soon travelers from US will stop staying in the city.

The price was fabulous for a recognizable chain anywhere in manhattan. Although its technically SOHO, its really closer to Chinatown. But for the price I could live with that! Small but very clean. We stayed one night at the Holiday Inn. After a lot of searching on websites, we snagged a terrific rate: under , taxes included! I suspect this is a rarity. Hint: we got it only a day or two before we were planning to go, so I guess they discounted rooms to keep occupancy up. I wanted something that was walking distance to a small Off-Broadway Theater that was nearby (10 blocks or so). Southern New York City can be confusing: it is not the easy grid that is Midtown, so we circled around for a while but found it eventually. I wish I had known that a valet would be available to take care of the car immediately. I didn't find out until I got to the desk. Overnight parking was ! (Ouch) The room was VERY comfortable - a king bed and a queen - a corner room - FIVE windows! I would have selected one higher up to get away from the traffic noise (you can even hear the subway rumble through on the fourth floor!) Bed was terrific. Don't go for their overpriced breakfast: ( for a Continental breakfast for a hot breakfast!) We went around the corner to Kitchen COmmune 448 Broadway and had great coffee, fresh squeezed orange juice and two rather eclectic breakfast offerings for for the two of us.

Location was great. Rooms were small with very few amenities. This hotel is walking distance from everything south of midtown. It is in China town, but just 2 blocks from the trendy part of Soho. The bed is comfortable and clean, but that is all you will get.

Within one block we were able to get on a subway and we had many easy train opitions to choose from. With a 5-10 ride we were at Battery Park heading to see the Statye of Liberty, the World Trade Center site, Wall Street, Times Square, etc. A few blocks from the hotel and you are in the heart of China Town for shopping or Little Italy for great food. Transport booked via orbitz is not the best. our first 4.5 hours and last 2 hours were spent waiting on or riding from stop to stop in the airport shuttle. I recomend you call the hotel and ask them about the best transport. While in Manhattan we found yellow NYC taxis to be useful and the towncars, limos ect to be well...lets just say not as good a value. I reccomend a ped-taxi tour of Central Parks South side. Be sure your driver is the type that will narrate as you ride. It's way more fun that way. Beware of Greenich village late-night. It is for the party type person. However...We felt safe everywhere we went.

Close to Subway station, and too little Italy. Can get to most places in the city within a half hour. Service at this hotel was extremely good. The area outside the hotel is a little rough being on the edge of china town. For the most part I really enjoyed my stay there. The area outside is a little rough. On the edge of Chinatown, with merchants selling bags, cologne, umbrellas and touristy things. However, it's a half block of that and you were on the subway, and could reach most areas in the city in a half hour. I really enjoyed my stay at the hotel. They went out of their way on more than a couple of occasions, and were extremely friendly. Not what you would expect from a hotel in NYC. The room was nice, but small. Everything was clean. The wireless internet connection was a little weak, but other than that I really enjoyed my stay here and would stay again.

The beds were very comfortable and it was quiet The public areas were minimal and amenities few Although the room was comfortable the hotel offers little by way of amenities. This isn't such a drawback given that the location of the hotel, which is right at the intersection of solo, Chinatown, little Italy and the bowery. The concierge was also very helpful and friendly.

It was convenient. The room was closet-sized, and the bed was tiny. The Holiday Inn Downtown is an adequate hotel and reasonable. The room, as is typical for New York, is closet-sized, and the bed is not big enough for two adults, but I was traveling alone, so it wasn't a problem.

"Someone previously commented that there was no hot water, but the water was very hot during my stay. The rooms were small, but since I was sleeping for 6 of the 7 hours I spend in the room that doesnt matter to me. The rooms were clean and had cable TV. For nearly $300 per night, I would expect a continental breakfast or at least some coffee, but there was none."

Great food, room service, location, atmosphere, and overall quality. I would stay here again. Housekeeping took a while to deliver additional towels and the vending machines took our money. Great location, nice atmosphere, excellent food and service. However, housekeeping delivered addles towels on 2nd request. Vending machines did not treat us kindly. Had a nice time. Would stay again.

Great location close to the metro. Lots of interesting shops, restaurants within walking distance. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Hotel was clean and the bed was super comfy. Reception and concierge were both helpful, friendly and gave us lots of little tips to make our stay relaxing. We loved the location as it was easy access to other areas of Manhattan. The young woman on reception was friendly and very helpful, greeting us whenever we came in and out of the hotel.

It was nice and quiet. Alittle out-dated. The hotel itself is quiet and little outdated. There are no flat screen TVs, not many options on the room service menu, vending machines and ice machines are scattered throughout the floors but no one floor has it all. It is basically a good place if you are just there to sleep not to hang out.

The location was awesome, very close to Chinatown and the Subway. Great for those who want to visit NYC by foot. Smoking room, we were sick as soon as the elevator doors opened. Too much smoke odor! A basic hotel in an awesome location. Little Italy and Chinatown are at walking distance, while the Subway us just half a block away. What I did not like was the smoking room we stayed (we do not smoke) and the noisy people from the room nearby that scare us when they tried to open the connecting door. But, besides that, the location was great!

Price. Hotel staff was rude. I'm allergic to down pillows and it took two tries to get one hypo-allergenic pillow, during which the person was rude. The location is not in Soho, it's just outside in what is more likely Chinatown. The room was small, but clean about what you can expect for the price in NYC. If it wasn't for the hotel staff, it would have been fine.

Beds were extremely comfortable. The hotel is extremely convenient to subway, Chinatown, financial district, etc. No free internet in the hotel lobby. You have to pay minimum of $3 with a credit card. I loved the hotel. It was easy to get to with the subway. I felt safe and secure in the hotel. Lots of street action outside the door. Expect lots of street vendors outside of the hotel! We were offered Gucci handbags and other designer bags at least half a dozen time between the subway and the hotel - a span of only one block!

The location is good. The rooms were chokingly small. The hotel shouldnot be rated a 2-1/2 star hotel, though it is a Holiday Inn. It is definitely overpriced. In other hotels of comparable rating, a two-bed room doesnot attract any additional charge. The hotel staff were very aggressive about making money.

Good service. Ridiculously small room. The staff was nice and pleasant. The location was decent and you could find parking on the street on a weekend if you tried. However, if you are spending any time at all in the room, you're going to laugh. You can barely walk around the bed without hitting the wall. These are the smallest rooms I've ever seen, even by NY standards. Still, it's nice for a good price overall.

"I researched for a month. This hotel was in walking distance of Canal Street and in the center of Manhattan. We were also walking distance from the subway which was much cheaper than cabbing it. It was also the cheapest hotel. The entire staff was so friendly & helpful. Double Kudos to Roxy, the Conceirge. She was so helpful every day and always friendly. The rooms were the perfect size and the bathrooms had plenty of counter space and plenty of space all around. They were also very clean! I would reccommend this hotel highly if you are trying to stay on a budget. "

The beds were great! Location was very good depending on what you wanted. Maybe location if it is your first time, but it wasn't my first, so it was great! This was a great hotel. It is located in SoHo right on the edge of Chinatown. It is less than a block to a subway station and I felt safe the entire time (and I was out late on the nights I was there). Beds/pillows are soft & comfortable. Bad, musty odor in the rooms. Seemed expensive for what it was. The major problem I had w/ the hotel is that the rooms had a horrible, musty stench in them. Our room smelled terribly and we asked to be changed to another room. We did change; however, the 2nd room smelled exactly the same. If it hadn't been for smell, our stay would have been fine.

This is a GREAT spot if you want to check out Chinatown, Little Italy and Greenwich. We did the "hop on hop off" tour (buy the all loops ticket) and did so much sightseeing in 2 days! Having never been to NYC, I can say that EVERYONE in the city was helpful when we asked for directions.

From the moment I checked into the Holiday Inn, Soho, the staff let it be known that they were there to help. Whenever I needed directions or a recommendation for a restaurant, they were only too happy to be of service. One staff member even walked me outside and showed me how to get to the area I needed. The room was small but extremely comfortable. The bed was wonderful. As for location, you turned out of the hotel and were only a few streets away from Chinatown and Little Italy. It made the stay even more fun. I very highly recommend this hotel.
