The Holiday Inn Destin on the beach is strictly a family hotel. If you do not have children, this is not where you want to stay. It is very kid friendly-- with an arcade, flat screen tv and small chairs, coloring book stations, child activity room) all in the very middle of the hotel (where you have to walk to get to the lobby, out to the beach, and the pool). This is great if you have small children, but horrible if you wanted a nice relaxing weekend at the beach with your spouse, like we did. We couldn't even get into the hot tub without at least 3 to 4 kids in there at a time, even late at night. The good thing was the location. It was right on the beach, and near a lot of things to do. There were several outdoor shopping malls, outdoor activities such as put put and go-cart tracks, and many restaurants within a short drive or even walk. Another good thing is that they offered free dvd rentals during the stay.

It was very nice and good looking from outside and good location. I liked very much especially the location because it was very convinient for the shopping and for a walk to the beach. Also it was close to the bike trail which we have planned. Only thing was the corridor was somehow looks not very neat looks somehow dormitory but other than that it was good for your budget.

Everyone on staff was wonderful. Kids' activities were fun & well-organized. Need more variety for dining experience. Air ducts need new filters! Someone with severe asthma wouldn't be able to stay here.

Children oriented, excellent beach access. Uncomfortable bed, noisy AC, odor of room. This hotel is great for families and offers plenty of activities for children. The access to the beach is great. The only complaint I have is that the AC in the room was noisy and that the room had a smell that was some type of cleaner/air freshener that housekeeping uses and I eventually got used to it. Friendly staff!

My wife and I were very impressed with the hotel and the beach and would not hesitate in recommending to others. The common areas were very clean and the beach was beautiful and clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. There are many activities for children, not having any we did not feel like children over ran the hotel. The room was generally okay and did include a good sized fridge and a microwave but could use a little updating.

This was our 13th trip to Destin, Fl., and we have NEVER been more satisfied with overall service as we were with this hotel. I made frequent calls to the front desk, requesting toiletries, towels, or coffee...etc., and they ALWAYS delivered the items promptly and with a smile. The children's programs were AMAZING! My two sons and nephew never ran out of activities during our stay! A HUGE outdoor pool, indoor pool, game room, outdoor cafe, and the 'Little Buccaneers' program for children kept the boys busy. Breathtaking ocean views from our balcony were also a plus. We will DEFINITELY return!!!!

My family has stayed here for the past 3 years over our summer vacation and we love it. Stayed here when I was a kid with my family also. Plan to be there again this summer. Great enviroment for kids and easy access to the main strip for other activities. Staff is frendly, helpful, and polite. Not a place for young couples with no children though. Beach, pool, and dinning all right there. We drive from Plano, and the trip is well worth the drive.

This hotel is great for families! Free is the flow in the hotel. Free ice cream and pop corn, free movie rentals, free area for kids to play and do arts and crafts. Kids eat free, too. My kids loved it here. Service was wonderful. Hotel was very clean. It was older, but well kept.

The hotel was clean and pristine. The location was beautiful and the rooms were comfortable. The staff, however was extremely rude and discourteous. Any request we made was met with insensitivity and crassness. We were made to feel that we were an interruption to their day. Definitely will not stay again, and will encourage others not to stay there.

HI Destin had plenty for the children to do and we really liked the kids bunks. The only thing I would have liked was two lavatories in the bath. I traveled with my children ages 11, 9, & 7. We liked the indoor pool and hot tub. Also had an outdoor pool and a wadding pool, but we traveled in February. It was on the beach and a children's program with pool table, bumper pool, video games, gave away free t-shirts to the kids, free DVD rental, and kids eat free with an adult. We left things at the pool and they were still there when we returned. A child lost his iPod touch and it was waiting for us at the front desk when we returned. The staff left a message about it on the phone. I will return to this hotel. This was a great weekend!

The beds were so comfortable. The rooms need renovated. The staff was extremely friendly. The hotel was okay, to me it seemed like spring breakers have trashed it more than you could count. The beds were surprisingly comfortable.

The hotel was clean and close to a lot of places. Bathroom was tiny, and hotel staff a little rude. The hotel was fine for the two days we took for a mini vacation. The hotel staff was a little rude, but all in all most was helpful. Apparently the hot tub closes at 11:00 so if you want a more romantic hotel, choose something else. But it was on the beach and that was all that mattered.
