Holiday Inn Sunspree Galveston is a waterfront family vacation resort located four miles from Schlitterbahn Water Park and approximately 85 miles from Bush Intercontinental Airport. Directly on Galveston Beach, the resort is also half a mile from the Moody Mansion, two miles from the historical Strand District and cruise ship terminal, three miles from Stewart Beach, six miles from the Aquarium at Moody Gardens and RainForest Pyramid, 10 miles from Scholes Field Airport, and 45 miles from Houston Hobby Airport. The new remodel. I loved the thatch style roof and shutters and the remodeling in the lobby, the exterior and in the rooms. Loved the torches and looking down on the pool below. Also, really liked the textured carpet in my room.

My 2 year old daughter and I in 1 room and my parents in another in which my step dad needed a handicapped room. My parents handicapped room was great. Very easy for my step dad to shower get around in the room. The staff was amazing. Very polite and very helpful to my parents and to me lugging in and out stuff need toddler. The pool was clean and nice. The bar staff at the pool bar could have been faster but hey it is the summer and the hotel was 100% booked. The breakfast buffett was yummy and hot.

The location was wonderful, easy to get to any activity and restaurant. The beach was right in front of you and clean. The hotel kept our room clean for us while we were out. The staff would do anything for us, very friendly and professional, it never seemed like a bother. The pool and pool bar was perfect when we got back at night. Honestly, the pool bar staff could be more friendly (maybe because it was the end of the day each time). The hotel restaurant employee's and food was great. As I said before, the hotel employee's and front desk would do anything for you, the only problem is that most of the time there was only one person at the desk and several people needing assistance, you have to be patient and wait your turn. Next year when we come back, my teenagers said they want to stay here again. Each room has a private balcony that you can sit on at night and view the ocean. Not bad at all.

You won't get what you pay for here. High price for a budget hotel in need of upkeep. If you are going down for the beach and don't care about your room and have money to burn, then stay here. We didn't feel safe or well taken care of. Virtually a flop house. Sorry, but Holiday Inn misses with this one.

We had a wonderful time at the hotel. We had a problem in which during the night our air conditioner stopped working. Staff tried to be very accommodating. They tried to move us to another room, but there were only smoking rooms available...he let me go into all the available rooms to pick which one I wanted to go into. They appologized and credited us with a credit.
