Located next to the University of Pittsburgh campus, the Holiday Inn University Center puts guests in close proximity to University attractions, about three miles from downtown. During your visit, don't miss the heated, indoor pool, sauna, and exercise room complete with eight cardiovascular machines and a selection of weights. At Bridges Restaurant and Lounge, guests will find American favorites from gourmet pizza to Angus steaks served in a casual setting. The restaurant is open three meals a day. Kids 12 and under eat free with paying adults. Room service is available from 6:30am to 10pm. At Bridges Bar, guests can enjoy drinks and conversation in a lively setting. Live jazz music is offered on Sundays. There are plenty of restaurants, from casual to fine dining, in the surrounding area. Parking is available for 18/ day with unlimited in and out privileges. The hotel is about a mile from the Phipps Conservatory and the Carnegie Museum. Reach the Mellon Arena in three miles and Heinz Field in four. The Andy Warhol Museum is also four miles away. Reach the Pittsburgh International airport in 25 miles. There are 251 rooms, including three suites, on nine floors at this hotel. Executive Edition rooms feature upgraded amenities, private lounge access, and continental breakfast. In each room, guests will find two dataport telephones, hairdryer, iron, ironing board, complimentary newspaper, and coffeemaker.

Ok, not bad. Parking fee is expensive and is not up to my expectations. Other than parking and bath rooms every thing is acceptable. Hotel staff is friendly and kind of convenient location and overall it is above average type place to stay.

Stayed overnight on a business trip and was impressed by the personal, professional service, the large, well-appointed room and bathroom, and good room service food. The air handler is a bit loud and could use a ""low"" setting as opposed to being either ""high"" or ""off"".

Friendly restaurant & lounge staff. Receptionists (desk) were not the friendliest. Overall a very good hotel, however, I was not prepared for the $17/night parking fee. It changed my expectations somewhat.

Elegant Room. Service. Two Night stay. Room was not made up first night even after I reported it. Nearly impossible to get a cab in the morning. Very indifferent hotel staff. Failed to even offer an apology for poor service on the room. Hotel manager very understanding and promised to address my issues with his staff.

Very comfortable bed! Front desk staff was very rude and unhelpful. They charged us for a movie we did not watch, then wasted half an hour of our time giving us the run-around trying to figure out whether or not we were lying. Eventually they removed the charge, but by then we were late for our next obligation. Hotel was nice but staff was not.

I was in Pittsburgh on business and stayed in an executive suite with a king bed. It was very clean, on the ninth floor, and pleasant decor. They had pillow options, firm or soft, which was very nice. Great pillows and great bed, which was the most important thing for me. The bathroom was also very nice and contemporary. Overall, very nice, contemporary decor and clean place to stay. The restaurant is also nice, with polite staff. Only down-side is the cost, which is a bit on the expensive side. I think I could have found comparable accommodations at a better price, but the location was ideal for me.

I found the service at this hotel extremely exceptional. Cleanliness was also very good. However, sleeping was difficult due to the fluctuation in temperature and accessibility of fresh air. For example, when the air flow was at a minimal, it was hard to breath. When the air was on I could breath but I was freezing. I suppose I would jump out of bed in a panic, half asleep, due to allergens already in my system. If this was an allergy free room, however, I would stay again.

My husband & I had to come in an emergency due to our son being in an accident. I was beside myself when I had to make travel arrangements. It was late at night for them when I telephoned from CA. X told me to set up a plane flight, explained their location in regards to where the hospital is and that she would arrange a hotel room to accommendate our last minute arrival & a managable hotel rate. The appearance of the hotel and loby is nice. The staff is very friendly. Our room was spacious and clean. I couldn't quite figure out the cooling/heating system. We noticed that the location is great if you're going to check out the surrounding schools. There are many nice restaurants and a great museum + shopping within walking distance. We will definitely go back when we visit our son.

It was in the heart of Pittsburgh college campus. There was something going on all the time. You could take a walk at 3:00 am and feel perfectly safe. The location is the heart of a college campus with lots of inexpensive museums and cafes

Very clean, nice rooms, convenient to hospital, very hospitable. There was nothing that we didn't like about our stay except wish there was a whirlpool. We would recommend this hotel to anyone. It was extremely clean, and pleasant. We would definitely like to stay there again.

Very accommodating with shuttle. Front desk called while I was napping to see if I was happy. Very convenient to both University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon. Clean and comfortable room in an area of superb architecture and very close to spectacular museums.

Cleanliness, offers choice of pillows, has traveler amenities in case you forgot (i.e. toothpaste). The hotel staff was not familiar with highway construction traffic. This hotel was excellent for our stay, right on Pitt's campus, and close to great shopping and restaurants in shady side and south side.

Great location too many cultural sites. Nothing. The hotel is in easy walking distance of many interesting cultural sites and nice restaurants. The room was spacious and clean. An excellent complimentary breakfast was provided in a comfortable executive lounge. I enjoyed my stay there very much, and would go back again.

Close vicinity to Pitt University. Charged a fee for parking & poor dining experience. The hotel was conveniently located for our purpose of visiting Pitt University. Also would not recommend the hotel restaurant.

The pillows and bedding were extremely comfortable and clean. Its pool and fitness room were below par for a 3 star hotel. I was pleased to be able to stay at such a fine and comfortable facility. Especially impressive beds/linens/pillows. The best was the business room: I was traveling in a large group with a very full itinerary, so I needed quick internet access and a printer several times over the course of the weekend. On one occasion, an employee even printed out directions for us while I went to get the car out of the lot, we were running late. Nice service!

Quick, efficient, friendly registration. Hotel staff superb. Treated as a welcomed repeat client. Am a club member. Bar and grill was understaffed, had to wait approx 10/15 minutes for wait staff after seated. After that all fine. All aspects of hotel were excellent as expected. Met the usual high standards of holiday inn. Was a bit disappointed that bar waiters/waitresses not available in numbers needed. Post university athletic event should have alerted managers. Otherwise -- all great.
