WE RESERVED A ROOM FOR MY BIRTHDAY AND WENT TO TAHOE. I HAD RESERVED A NON-SMOKING ROOM WITH 1 KING SIZE BED. WHEN I CHECKED IN THE FRONT DESK TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS NOT KING SIZE ROOM NON SMOKING. SHE DIDNT EVEN CHECK TO SEE AND TOLD US THAT IT HAD TO BE A SMOKING ROOM. I DIDNT WANT TO GET ANGRY, SO I TOLD THE LADY THAT I WOULD TAKE IT. I WAITED IN THE LOBBY AS MY GIRL FRIEND WENT TO THE BATHROOM AND THE FRONT DESK TOLD ANOTHER CUSTOMER THAT THEY HAD A NON SMOKING KING. I WAS ANGRY BUT TIRED OF DEALING WITH THEM, SO I JUST WENT TO MY ROOM. WHEN WE GOT TO THE ROOM I WAS EVEN MORE ANGRY. THE ROOM WAS HORRIBLE. IT WAS NEXT TO THE PARKNG LOT. THE WINDOW WOULD NOT CLOSE ALL THE WAY. THE BATH ROOM WAS OLD. AND THE ROOM STUCK....i JUST SAID FORGET IT , ITS MY BIRTHDAY AND I JUST LET IT GO AND ENJOYED THE REST OF MY BIRTH, I WOULD RATHER STAY ACROSS THE STREET AT MONT BLEU FOR THE SAME PRICE. THANKS FOR ALMOST MESSING UP MY BIRTHDAY!!!!

location, Starbucks, pretty view of Lake Tahoe Our rooms were too hot (82 degrees) and there was nothing that could be done to cool them. The hotel is located on the strip near all the casinos. The rooms were spacious and simple. Hotel staff was friendly. Great views of Lake Tahoe, wonderful pool.

It was my first trip to Lake Taheo. Due to snow storm near LA, I arrived Lake Taheo after 9:00pm and was worried about finding the hotel in the dark and snowing night. To my surprise, Horizon Casino Resort was right on my right hand side as soon as I turned on to Lake Taheo Blvd from HYW 207. The hotel staff was very friendly which made us feel warm in the snowing and winding winter night. The room was large and clean, and the bed was comfortable. We didn't hear any noises from our room during our time there. Next Morning, we looked out of our window and saw beautiful snow convered montains. We didn't have to drive our car again once we parked it in the resort parking structure until the day we left. The bus in town made it easy for us to go to ski resort in town, although Heavenly Resort on Nevada side, which was just across the street from our hotel, was closed while we were there, due to the winding weather condition. We loved our time at Lake Taheo, and our experience in the hotel made it even more enjoyable.

The Horizon Hotel is one of the smaller hotels in the heart of So. Lake Tahoe. It is an easy walk to the larger hotels and many amenities. The hotel is older and the rooms could use some updating. (The carpet in our room needed to be replaced.) I was personnally very impressed with the cleaning staffs honesty. I left my room early one morning and unfortunately left my wedding rings on the bathroom sink area. Gratefully, they had been neatly returned to exactly where I left them after the area had been cleaned. We also had a wonderful dinner at Josh's Restaurant. The food and the service were both excellant!

The beds were the worst part of the trip. I guess they are okay if you prefer sleeping on something as hard as the floor. The ammenities were good for the money and the location is great. I had a room with a balconey and it had a wonderful view of the lake. My room was fine temperature wise because we could open the balconey door, but my family that were in other rooms were really hot because the hotel the air conditioning turned off. The staff gave them fans which didn't help at all. Josh's and the Four Season's restaurants are good, but the buffet wasn't that great....not much taste. If you aren't going to spend much time in the room, then this hotel is fine.

The bellman was very helpful. The hotel is falling apart and is not being maintained. It should be closed for refurbishment. Definitely not worth the stay.

The hotel was conveniently located in the middle of South Lake Tahoe and served very well as a spot to crash for a two-day ski trip.

We knew it is not going to be 5 star hotel, but we were nicely surprised. At the check in we asked for rooms with 2 double beds and with balcony and we got it. We had beautiful lake view too. Rooms were clean and the whole hotel was very nice. The buffet on Saturday, Sunday and Monday was GREAT for only $9.99. Shuttle bus was on time every 20 minutes... All over... great place to stay for less.

The sheets were so thin you could see through them, the carpet was coming up from the wall, it smelled, the blankets had holes in them. Although, run down, it was clean. It was not worth the money that I paid. From what I was told by locals it is also closing and coming down to be replaced with a new hotel/casino. The casino had only a few machines left and all the tables were gone. I would not stay here again till it reopens as a new hotel.

The hotel room was a clean room in the Alpine tower as promised and I was able to get a King Non smoking room. Room was plain with no extras such as a coffee pot. The resturant breakfast special was very good for $3.99. Overall good experience. Room was cleaned every day when I returned from skiing. The room was hot since the air conditioner was not able to be turned on. Opened window to cool off.

I read the bad reviews and was very nervous about staying here, but our expereince was just fine. It is a nice three star hotel. If you are expecting more than a three star hotel, don't stay here. Casino is nice, we used the outdoor hot tub daily, ""resort fee"" was minimal ($5 per day per room) and check-in came with $5 match play in the casino and game room tokens. Good happy hour, conveniently located, access to pool at montblue across street. Only complaint is that casino didn't have a sportsbook.

This was our 2nd stay and our Final one at this hotel!!!! We arrived and tried to check in at 3:00, the front desk clerk informed us our room was not ready yet and that we could check back in an hour. After seeing a movie, we checked back only to be told by the same lady the same line. This was at 5:30. Afer waiting around till 6:00, we asked another clerk when the room would be done, he said we have one but on a lower floor. We accepted after waiting for over 3 hours. We realized we were not in the tower we paid $10.00 extra for, so we went back to the hotel desk and requested we have a room in the Alpine tower that we were charged extra for. He said since we booked with a 3rd party, it was only ""if available"", and yet they would not change the price since it was not available. They were not willing to work with us at all!! We ended up in a smoking room, with 2 very worn out double beds, and a thermostat that was stuck on 81 degrees.! We also were charged a ""resort fee"" which when we booked it doesn't mention anything about. It is for the validated parking, newspaper and water. No mention of it beforehand, only at checkout. We do not plan on returning to this hotel again. You are better off spending a little more and actually get a nights sleep and a clean room. We stay in a lot of different hotels and find this one to be the worst!!! Try the Motel 6 down the road, it will seem like luxury there!

When we looked for a location with a pool, we assumed the pool would be in the hotel. That was the first surprise. The room was just acceptable. Neither clean nor dirty but clearly a bit worn. Our first room was extremely cold and noisy...the noise, which sounded like jets landing and taking off, turned out to be the elevator. We asked and were moved to another room which was not as cold and much more quiet. Maid service was haphazard even though it was clear that the maids were working very hard. It simply seemed that there weren't enough to manage the workload. I can't recommend this hotel except for the most basic of needs: a relatively clean, safe, boring room with no extras. Internet was very expensive, pool was across the street, and the casino was actually quite a little hike from the towers where we stayed. Sorry, not again.

It was across the street from the hotel my friend was in. The linens were soiled and the staff did very little to appease the situation. This hotel did very little to meet our expectations. It was, for lack of a better term, a dump. I would like a refund. The linens had urine and fecal stains all over them. When we asked the desk to assist, they refused to answer our calls from the room direct. We had to use a cell phone to contact them so that they did not know it was us calling. When they did send someone with clean linen they threw the linen on the floor and we had to ask them to remove the soiled linen. My husband had to make the bed himself. It was a terrible experience.
