I thought the hotel was trading on its reputation. Some of the carpets were threadbare and the slow service in the bar was appalling. The big buffet breakfast just wasn't that big or tasty. Not worth the money and wouldn't stay there again unless the hotel was revamped, service was improved and the cost was reduced. If you want comfort and style you would be better staying at a big corporate chain hotel.

i have stayed at this hotel before-in 1967. it has been beautifully restored and cared for and is indeed one of the leading hotels of the world. the concierge was fabulous and all the staff were extremely helpful, without being patronising. i dined in the main restaurant, alone, and felt so well cared for and attended to that the very pricey meal (my choice) was well worth it. good value. perfect hotel and perfect restaurants.
