The Catalonia Moratin hotel, which opened its doors in August 2002, is conveniently situated near the famous Golden Triangle (the Prado Museum, the Thyssen Bornemisza Museum and the Reina Sofia Museum), adjacent to the historic nucleus of the city which includes the Puerta del Sol and the Plaza Mayor. It is only a few metres away from the Plaza Santa Ana, known to be one of the best places for tapas nationwide, and close to the most popular theatres in town. The hotel building, part of the historic heritage of the city of Madrid, has kept some of its most representative, original features, such as the classical facade dating from the 18th century, the main wooden stairs and the entrance hall, which is decorated in a classical style with a genuine coffered ceiling. One of the main features of the building is its interior patio, a typical Madrid-stylecorrala adorned with wrought iron bars and embellished with flowers. They served our favorite of ten or twelve breakfasts, not the largest, but our favorite. The building needed to be sand blasted. The attached building was full of old posters stuck all over it and peeling off.

Fantastic location. Very nice decor. Excellent combination of historic and modern aspects. Friendly staff. Nice atmosphere. Overall excellent value for money.

Good value. Close to all major historic attractions. Very clean. Quite due to good sound barriers. Though it's an older building located at the old part of town, it is very well remodeled. We liked: professional reception personal, elevator, non-smoking room, cleanliness. Though the hotel is located on a busy street, the double pain windows and thick curtains kept the room comfortably quieter.

Great location, you can easily walk to all the main sights from here. We paid about £100 through late rooms, this seemed pretty good value for the size of the room and location, would stay again

Very good breakfast buffet. Hotel computer for internet not working. Good location, good value, good buffet breakfast, very quiet if request inner room on Courtyard.
