General Description

Conveniently located at the corner of Metcalfe and Laurier in Ottawa, Ontario, the Hotel Indigo is just one block from Confederation Park, home of Ottawas many festivals and events. One can walk to the Rideau Canal, which in winter is the worlds longest outdoor ice rink, stroll to the historical Parliament buildings, catch a concert at the National Arts Centre, and enjoy one of the best locations in Ottawas downtown core. Whether guests visit government departments, Ottawa business district, or just to take in the sights, the hotel puts guests just steps from where one needs to be. It is a sophisticated boutique hotel, whose focus is to deliver guest peace, serenity, and renewal. Quite deliberately, it has been designed as an oasis for travelers who yearn for an escape from the common hotel, but still need the convenience of a 24-hour fitness center, pool, restaurant, and car rental on site. With four meeting rooms on site and access to additional meeting facilities, one can be of the first in Ottawa to have ones event at this exclusive new venue. The hotel is 100 percent smoke-free. The guestrooms feature all of the hotels amenities including laminate wood floors, beds wrapped in duvets, stacked with over-sized pillows, and dressed with three layers of quality linens. The bathroom feature spa-inspired glass shower stall and Moen Revolution Technology shower head. The suites offer ample space and luxury by separating ones living area from the bedroom. One can choose a suite with either one king or queen size bed. The suites feature a separate living room with pull-out sofa, a large desk, 32-inch in-room LCD TV, mp3 alarm clock, and high-speed Internet access.

As someone who has made a career out of judging and reviewing rooms for accessibility, this hotel's rooms rate the highest of any I've stayed at. The staff was uniformly courteous and helpful, even at 2:30 in the morning -- and there wasn't a question I had that they didn't get an answer for. The room was great and it WORKED for me, with a motorized wheelchair. There is no doubt that if I go to Ottawa again, my first choice of places to stay will be the Hotel Indigo. The only (slight) downside was the Phi restauraunt -- not because it was bad or expensive, just not to MY taste. I would cheerfully recommend this hotel to anyone going to Ottawa for any reason. It is close to many things, within walking distance of a major mall (Rideau Centre), and easily accessible to most bus lines -- and the buses in Ottawa are easy to use, convenient, and go just about anywhere.

This hotel is awesome cleanliness, bed comfort and staff friendliness
It is extremely convenient if you want to explore downtown Ottawa
Parking is tough, but they are very good about loading/unloading next to the entrance
You can park securely by paying $15 a night, but it is not great -considering this is downtown Ottawa - i was pretty happy with the arrangement

No breakfast included so that is something to watch out for, although there is a Tim Horton's just next door in the Marriott and this hotel connects to the Marriott, so you can still get it very conveniently but it is not included in your room stay

All Aveda bath products, the beds were very comfortable, clean and the rooms were very spacious

I recently had the opportunity to try out this hotel when visiting Ottawa on business and was very impressed.

It's centrally located in downtown Ottawa, just 3-4 short blocks from Parliament Hill and right in the main business district of Ottawa. Byward Market and the canal are also a short walk away.

The rooms are modern and clean, with great wallpaper behind the beds of either birch trees or tall grasses. I really liked that the floors were hardwood/laminate flooring and not carpet, making it much cleaner. Carpeting in hotels has always kinda grossed me out.

I ate in the bar one night, and the food was surprisingly good for a hotel bar.

I'd definitely stay here again.

Nice room details. Nice TV. Free in room internet access. Windows in the room I had looked out to a hallway so drawn curtains made the room a bit claustrophobic. Centrally located and walking distance to the farmer's market and Parliament buildings, this recently upgraded hotel with nice room features offers 24 hour fitness center.

The appearance was excellent, the conveniences, the location, the amenities of the hotel and services available. Not many. I liked mostly everything. Excellent location, great appearance and cleanliness. Helpful staff. Pricy parking and restaurant, but there are innumerous options just outside the hotel. Tim Horton's right beside it for a late night snack or if you arrive too late, like we did. And we loved the amenities. I really recommend it.

Nothing special. Room is too small. I do not like this hotel, not up to the stars. The room is way too small, the bathroom does not have a tub (just shower) and there is no view at all from the window. Granted, the location is prime. However, I could have stayed at Marriot Courtyard at Byward Market with all the amenities and where parking is free for guest.

The Indigo Hotel is not fully ready to be receiving guests. The staff wants to be friendly, but they are trained yet. I called the operator from the Business Center and the phone was never answered. I finally had to walk to the Front Desk to use their phone to call my room. The plane portion had no problems. The cafeteria was always closed. The hours of operation were erratic! The floor laminate in my room , 406, was coming off so it dipped every time we stepped on it. Overall a poor value for the money paid! More work is needed to make the guest experience more favorable!

Value for the money. Parking lot around the corner. This hotel is as nice, if not nicer, than the Lord Elgin which we stayed at after and paid a lot more money.

Decor, atmosphere - smaller and more intimate. The restaurant - the food did not meet our expectations and the service was slow. We loved the Indigo - very funky, wonderful use of space and light - interesting design - the rooms were very comfortable and clean. Everything was excellent except for the restaurant.
