The modern decorations & accents made a difference. The elevators were a bit slow but that gave it a European flare. The staff was wonderfully helpful. The location was right off of Times Square. The room was precious (although the room we had was quite small, it was VERY comfortable). Will definitely stay again.

Great location and King Executive Room well equipped for a small hotel. Helpful staff. Walls are a bit thin (airvents in bathrooms allow you to hear other conversations). Pillowsvery flat. King Executive room was great for a weekend get away with my husband. Room had good amenities, including things like a wine opener, nice spa products and robe. Location is perfect - a two minute walk from Time Squarefar enough from noise but close enough to get to the scene. Room is small but I have stayed in much smaller in NY. Staff is friendly, takes time with you and helpful. I would return to this hotel.

Although the rooms are small, they are very well organized, beautiful and comfortable. The rooms were a bit small. Overall, this hotel was fabulous. We loved the location. It's close to everything! The hotel was very clean and modern. The rooms were small but were comfortable. The staff was very nice and helpful. We will come to this hotel again next year. Thanks for the great experience.

The room was excellant. It was small but not impossible, but who goes to NYC to stay in the room for any length of time except to sleep? We did not crawl over anything. The staff was excellant and friendly and the beds were wonderful. We don't usually sleep so well on trips. My adult daughter and I had to share a bed, but it was king size and we didn't keep each other awake. It was extremely clean and is located in a great spot as were were shopping and going to Broadway plays (5 min. from 2 of the plays we saw). We don't mind walking, though. It is close to everything. We didn't take any busses or cabs this trip but they were available close by if needed. We would definitely stay here again. The mini bar is quite expensive, but we didn't use it or the room service. The Bistro next door was an excellant place to eat. It was recommended by the hotel and lived up to our expectations. They got us in and out in plently of time for the play. They asked ahead of time if were had plans, so they serviced us accordingly. We highly recommend this hotel.

I stayed in June of 08, during which time, I fell in Shubert Alley and broke my arm and leg. The staff at the Hotel Mela couldn't have been kinder or more attentive. Everything I needed from an addtional chair in my room to help hailing cabs was cheerfully done. During a time that was a true nightmare, they did everything they could to make it easier. I would stay here again.

The beds were comfortable and I slept very well. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The room did not have enough lighting for reading. The hotel met my expectations for comfort and cleanliness. The staff was very helpful about pointing us to nearby restaurants. They stored our luggage for the day after we checked out and then let us use an empty room/bathroom to freshen up before we left the city. I was very happy with Hotel Mela and would be happy to return. I have already told friends/relatives about it.

The accomodations were comfortable and adequate. However, the room was just too small, resulting in a tight constricted feeling at all times. There was no where to sit or rest in the room except the bed. The staff was very pleasant and readily available for advice, etc. No dining on site, but several good restaurants adjacent ...everything was realitively close.

Modern bathroom, room and emenities, central, nice staff and nicely decorated. Very small elevators, small room andno double beds. Central location - in the middle of mid-town. Recommended for one traveler, business person or couple. Room had clean, modern decor and was quiet. Not recommended for children since there are no double beds. Also the elevators are very small and the rooms compact. Minimal lobby. Helpful staff.

Very helpful and friendly staff, clean, comfortable, cute, and quiet. The room was a little small, but not the smallest during our stay. We stayed in 4 different hotels in NYC during our stay. This was our second favorite, mainly because of the size of the room. It was definitely the cutest and most modern, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. We felt very comfortable here even though the room was a little small. My only complaint would be the price, it was a little above average for our stay in NYC.

I was very impressed with the renovation. The room was as if the building were constructed last year. It was very quiet for being only a block from Times Square (10th-floor room). There were TWO AC units allowing for different temperatures in the sleeping area and at the desk. The bathroom was small but modern and immaculate. The shower was particularly nice. The room was comfortable and adequate in size. The lobby is almost nonexistent, and consisted only of a couple of couches near the elevators. The elevators were very small, but waits were not long. I'd go back.

It was very trendy, clean, and fun with an emphasis on customer service. The hotel lobby was a bit small, it felt like you were too near the door if you were sitting in the lobby. After arriving at Hotel Mela, I was genuinely and extremely surprised that the star rating for the hotel was only a 3 star upscale. It exceeded my expectations in every way, especially with its great location, trendy details, and customer service. It was a clean and fun place to stay in New York City.

It was very convenient to the area where we were spending the most time. Extremely small room with an even smaller bathroom. The hotel was very nicely appointed and well located close to the theater district. The rooms were very small and provided little room to stretch out in. You could not stand in the bathroom, at the sink, with the door open and not bump into the door. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Although, overall, the hotel was nice, you are definitely paying for the location. Also, instead of the huge basket of mini-bar items (available for purchase), it would have been nice to have had a coffee maker in the room.

The Mela Hotel was very close to Times Square and lots of great dining. We were 1/2 block from either 6th or 7th Av. and just stepped that short distance to a huge choice of restaurants. The bed was extremely comfortable, great mattress and linens. When we were leaving the staff even sent a young man to walk with us the half block to catch a cab on 6th Avenue. Totally unexpected and way above the call of duty. We ordered breakfast in the next morning and it was delivered on time, hot and tasty. The only reason for the somewhat satisfied on fitness is because we didn't use the facilities, but, it looked nice in passing.

Our greatest disappointment was with the size of the room. There was a very small armoire that wouldn't even hold a full length coat. Consequently, our room was piled with clothes suitcases in every available space on the floor and windowsill for the duration of our stay. Otherwise, the room was very clean and the location was excellent. Other minor disapointment include: The shower glass didn't contain the overspray and the floor was soaked after every shower. The television picture was poor. The view was of an alleyway. On the last two nights of our stay a large group booked more than one room on our floor. The opened and closed doors and shouted between rooms until the early morning hours. On the first night this was bearable. But, we had to be up at 5 am on the last night and we called the front desk on several occasions only to be told that there was nothing that they could do. Overall, we feel that the cleanliness of the room and the location made up for the minor complaints.

Soap and shampoo were great. Rooms weretoo small and boxy. Hotel Mela is a good hotel for someone who just wants a place to crash while in NYC. The rooms are as small, the TV set is hard to see from your bed and there's no space for storage if you happen to be on a shopping spree. But it is right in Times Square. I prefer Kimpton Hotels which are classier and more spacious.

Clean and newly refurbished. Rooms were absurdly small; bathroom had no shower curtain or dim lighting. First and foremost they should have a sign that says families not welcome. Saying the rooms are small is an understatement. When the cot arrived, we had to climb over it to get from the bed to the bathroom. While trying to achieve a European look, the bathroom had only a partial glass shield and no shower curtain which guaranteed a flooded floor when you were done (they are going to be dealing with water damage in all of their bathrooms pretty soon). There was nothing but an overly bright fluorescent lamp in the bathroom which meant blinding trips to the toilet at night. On the positive side, the hotel was obviously newly refurbished, clean, and the staff was friendly.

Location andstaff. Small rooms. I would stay alone only in this hotel, the rooms are far too small for sharing, unless you are very close to your traveling mate. The staff is friendly, hotel clean, safe and convenient.

Wonderfully decorated boutique hotel in Time Square. Cute but small room, which is not a problem. Rooms are small, but the ambiance and decorations made up for it. I would recommend this hotel to friends. It is centrally located in Times Square/44th/Broadway. It is a clean and boutique like hotel with a helpful staff. I would return to this hotel again.

The location was excellent for seeing a Broadway show, the friendly staff, welcoming you back after your day in the city and also very helpful. The hotel room was beautiful, very modern. The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable of the area. Very convenient to Broadway shows and shopping. We would definitely stay there again.

The location was awesome, it was really clean. The room was really small. We had a nice stay, I realize that any hotel in New York is expensive, too bad the rooms were so small, I was expecting a chair or desk to sit at, but it only had a double bed in it.

I'll be staying at the Hotel Mela again. Most of the hotels of this quality and location to Times Square are twice the amount. Great value!

The hotel has a great location and is clean! The only place to put you 1 suitcase was in front of the door. This hotel does have a great location however, the room consisted of the bd and the adjoining bathroom. There was no coffee pot in the room as there was no available room to put a coffee maker. Despite its great location I would never stay there.

The location was excellent and the staff were all extremely helpful and informative. A chair in room or place to put luggage would be nice. The hotel was located steps away from Times Square, yet it was very quiet and not chaotic. The rooms were clean. The staff was extremely helpful, friendly and informative. The hotel is within walking distance of great restaurants, main attractions and subway.

Excellent location and friendly staff. No view. The hotel is located right by Time Square which allows us to fully explore and appreciate what NYC has to offer. There are several subway stations nearby. The room was nicely decorated with free wireless Internet access. The lobby is small and could be packed at times. Staff is friendly and helpful.

Stylish rooms andexcellent location. Small but adequate bathroom, shower but no bathtub. Hotel Mela has very stylish rooms and a small but inviting lobby. The staff is exceptional. The walls are a little thin, so bring ear plugs if you're a very light sleeper.

Clean and comfortable and modern. Room was very small, but it's New York. Modern and exceptionally comfortable and semi-luxurious, if small (it is mid-town after all) rooms; very pleasant and helpful staff. Absolutely nothing to complain about.

Location and service. Hotel Mela is a little gem on 44th Street. If you want to be right in the middle of the Broadway scene, this is a great place to stay. The staff was very accommodating.

Hotel Mela was very clean and the hotel staff were extremely friendly. The location is great as it's walking disrance from popular attractions, like Times Square and Rockefeller Center. The street is pretty busy, so it felt safe to walk at night. The bed was very comfortable! They have free internet access so that helped a great deal especially since I was there for business.

The location of the hotel was great and the staff was very friendly. The bedrooms are very well decorated. We liked everything. The hotel is well located in the center of Times Square. We felt very secure in this location. The staff is friendly and helpful. Our luggage was lost by the airline. As soon as it arrived at the hotel, it was delivered to us. The hotel staff was always available to provide advice. We would definitely stay at Mela once again.

Modern decor. Water easily escaped the shower door. Loved the location, modern furnishings and friendly staff. We were pleased! The only downside was there was no closet or place for luggage in the small space.
