Staff was great and hotel was extremely clean and elegant. Only thing I didn't like was the room size. Very small room for 5 stars. Hotel is in a great location and is very elegant. From the minute you walk in the staff is looking to help you. The hotel gives you a great first impression, however, the size of the room was very disappointing. I've been to many 5 star hotels around Europe and this was by far the smallest room. Very bad "bang for the buck". This is a 4 star hotel, definitely not a 5 just because of the room. Everything else about the hotel is great and you will leave satisfied.

"I love the quantness and it is located perfectly a few blocks from the main tourist area, Dam Square. Just far enough to walk there but far enough to avoid the late night noise and crowds outside your hotel. The room was very nice about the same as $*/night Hilton here in America so based on that I thought it was a little over-prices at $*/night but Europe in general is expensive. But for an intimate get-away I would recommend it over a larger classic 5 star hotel."

Location was great, it was quiet clean and comfortable. Lacked in room coffee maker. The hotel was very nice, and the room was pleasant. It overlooked the canal and was very clean. There were some services but no iron in the room. The room, shower and bathroom were all relatively small, but this may be the way things are in Amsterdam. If it was a 4-star hotel, I would have been perfectly happy. But I expect a special experience in a 5-star hotel.

Hotel Pulitzer - a mixed experienceThis was supposed to be a relaxed weekend break in a sumptuous room with top class service. In the end, we came away a little disappointed. We booked an executive room, which was garden facing. Be aware that a lot of the rooms in the hotel are not overly spacious, as this is a htoel fashioned from a number of old houses. The bed was super comfy and it had most things you would expect, but we found it overall a bit pricey for what you got.Front desk were very helpful and the overall feel of the hotel is good, with gardens hiden away within the hotel complex. We ordered drinks from the bar and were told we would have to take them outside ourselves and equally the few table just across the road next to the canal, which were very pretty, seemed to be off limits most of the time. Our biggest issue however was with the hotel restaurant. We had a table booked at 9pm and we received our first food at 10.15 - which was the main course, having forgotten our starters. Service was also a lttle disappointing here. We were compensated with a free bottle of wine, but only at our request. The hotel's location is great, however, in a quiet part of old Amsterdam, but within easy walk of all major sights.Do yourself a favour and eat at either Bussia (Italian) or Christophe (French) both within 5 minutes walk and both outstanding restaurants.
