General Description

Located on Madison Avenue, The Roger is a stylish boutique hotel in the heart of Manhattan's fashionable Murray Hill neighborhood. It is two blocks from the Empire State building, and walking distance to Madison Square Garden, Penn Station, and Rockefeller Center. The Roger is easily accessible to Soho and the East and West Village and has a downtown personality with a warm and friendly atmosphere. What to expect: Quietly confident and cosmopolitan yet colorful and fun, the The Roger is a Midtown New York City hotel that dares to be different. Witness a vibrant blend of Rafael Vinoly architecture, brilliant color palettes, and exuberant textures in the heart of Manhattan's fashionable Murray Hill neighborhood. Upon entering the blue velour drapes encasing the front door Roger greets you with a high ceilinged lobby, floor to ceiling windows, natural-maple paneling, maple-and-granite floor, and a lounge with soft candlelight and a warm and homey feel. A well-kept secret among savvy travelers, this Midtown New York hotel features gracious hospitality in an exclusive setting. Amenity highlights: For early risers at The Roger, our lounge displays a European Style Breakfast Pantry, offering our out of town travelers regional delicacies such as fresh croissants and pastries from Balthazar and Ceci Cela, jams and granolas from Sarabeths, salmon from Petrossian, bagels from H&H and a Roger blend of coffee from Allann Brothers in Oregon. We also offer European meats and cheeses, scrambled eggs, andouille and chicken sausage, hot oatmeal, and a medley of fresh fruit. The design of the breakfast pantry is unconventional and inviting and gives the impression of having breakfast at a friends place or in a stylish Manhattan apartment as opposed to a hotel. Not a morning person? Savvy night owls have found a friend at the The Roger. A cosmopolitan but courteous host, Roger takes what works - dazzling atmosphere and warm service - while leaving long lines, guest lists, and attitude to other Midtown Manhattan bars. Rogers signature steak au poivre and baked fries are always crowd pleasers, but he also offers salads, Murrays cheeses, sandwiches, and a full list of entrees. His Mezzanine Lounge seems more like a funky private residence, drawing a smart clientele from all over the city. Soft candlelight and a granite-floating staircase set a dramatic tone while a light, playful mood offers a colorful contrast to midtown bustle with a warm, homey feel. Not feeling social? Dont worry, Roger also offers Room Service.

This hotel is hip yet homey at the same time. Our room was comfortable and very clean. We loved the bright and cheery decor. The beds were great! Although the bathroom was very small my daughter and I made the space work for us. The staff was very accomodating. Our room was too warm due to unseasonable waether. The front desk was very sympathetic and even sent up a fan. The doormen were very friendly and helpful. Excellent service all around.

Convenient Manhattan location at Madison Ave. and 31st Street. Upscale service with a very friendly staff, housekeepers, front desk, doorman-everyone was nice. The decor and furnishings were hip. The workout room had two flat screen tvs with remote controls on the treadmill, eliptical machine, etc. There was a pitcher of ice water with lemon, and fresh towels in the workout room. We did not take advantage of the cafe/bar.

"Hotel staff was extremely friendly and helpful - especially the doormen. Hotel is just like it is pictured - candles are lit all thru the lobby at night! Room was not as nice as expected, the furniture and bedding was good, queen bed did not feel like a pillowtop and seemed smaller than a regular queen. A/C was a bit loud. The room itself still appeared to be an old room with chaulk & paint seams cracking and base boards and walls were scuffed up. I would stay here again, it's a great hotel for the price, however,I will continue looking for that ""perfect spot"""

The Roger Williams is an exceptional hotel for those with less than extravagant budgets. The hotel and its staff are what you'd expect from a three star hotel- maybe even better. The doorman remembered my name and my guest's name, and was very helpful and proactive. The location is not amazing but it's not off the beaten trail either. ( Empire State Building is a few blocks away.) Overall a really good experience. I would recommend it to anyone.

your site stated it was a 4 star hotel. Not sure what or how you rate these hotel, but not even close to a 4 star. At most a 3. Nice staff members, but that's about it. Should have went to the Marriott.

I have stayed at the ""Roger"" once before, and while it would not be my first choice, it is a perfectly fine hotel. The only real draw back is a very tiny bathroom. It is so small that there is no counter space for make-up or a glass or any of one's necessities. And be careful to keep the toilet lid down because the toilet is actually under what little counter there is and it would be very easy to bump something in. Also the closet space is very limited, too. But on the plus side this was the quietest stay I've ever had in NYC due to the room being in the back. The front staff (especially the doormen) are the most friendly and helpful I've ever experienced in the city.

Although our room was quite small (expected for NY City), the second room we had reserved for our son was arranged differently and was more spacious. Extremely clean, great beds and pillows and very quiet. The location is mid-town but was a nice walk or short cab ride to Times Square area. Very close to Empire State Bldg and there were several nice restaurants to choose from in close proximity. There is also a subway stop within a couple of blocks. The staff was top notch. They were all extremely courteous, helpful, proficient at their various jobs - just superb in all areas. We will definitely use Hotel Roger Williams for our future NY trips.

I am alway a little hesistant about staying in hotels I know nothing about. My friend who I went on this trip with suggested the Roger Williams based on the great price she found on online travel website, so I decided to go for it and I was very pleased. The staff was SUPER friendly and helpful. The room was small-ish, but not overwhemingly so. Eventhough I did not have a window, the room still felt open and was very cute. The room and bathroom were clean. The bathroom sink was very small.

We arrived at the hotel a few hours early and were allowed to check in. A few hours later we had a sudden death in the family and had to rush home. The staff was understanding and allowed us to check out with no problems. We will definately go back when we re-schedule our trip.
