I stayed at the Waldorf ;wonderful experience, as always; next door to this hotel during the week for work and decided to fly my girlfriend out for the weekend and see a show. We booked last minute and this was one of the few hotels that had rooms available. I stayed at the Atlanta location once and it was great so I took a shot. BAD IDEA. The room is entirely too small. With a suitcase on the rack, you can't navigate around the bed. The edge of the sink actually hangs over the edge of the tub and if someone is in the shower you can't really get ready at the sink/vanity because the shower curtain prevents that. the shelf behind the toilet is ;in the way; as well. tube television, tiny closet etc etc. Beyond the disappointing room, every single interaction with staff was a nightmare. I was polite, not rude, screaming or yelling when I called to question the room I booked. The guest services associate I initially spoke with made it clear that if I was unhappy with the room I ;could take it up with Travel website; and promptly said goodbye. We called for room service twice and ended up having to go to the hotel bar and just order what we wanted from the bar, also terrible to deal with. I actually walked back over to the Waldorf and explained the situation to see if they had any rooms so we could move over. They did not but the associate told the manager and he offered ALL of the hotel services to us to use. We stayed away from our hotel as much as possible and if we needed anything, dinner, concierge etc. we went to the Waldorf.

Eventhough our stay was already paid for, the hotel put a $. hold on our credit card without our knowledge. When we realized, I called the front desk and was told this was a mistake. The hold should have been only $700. I was told I'd have to speak to a manager to get the hold reduced so I left a message on the manager's voice mail. I never heard from a manager or anyone else and we were there for 6 more days. There were 3 of us in the room; we had a king and a roll away; and we were left only two towels and 0 washcloths everyday. I had to call for another towel and washcloths every evening. We stayed at the hotel 7 nights. The coffee pot is a single serving maker. We were left 2 regular and 2 decafs each day. There is a sign that one coffee is free and the next you have to pay for. Since we are coffee drinkers, we didn't care for this much. We went to the restaurant next door and bought our coffee. The bathroom was very small, but we expected small so that wasn't a shock. The housekeeping staff were extremely nice. Eventhough we had to ask for our towels, etc, they were extremely nice and tried to be helpful when we did need them everyday. We are planning another trip to New York around Christmas and we will be looking for another hotel in that general area as that is very close to most things. We do not recommend staying at this hotel.

We were very pleased with our hotel. The room was very clean and nicely appointed. Beds very comfortable. The location was perfect for our plans to see the city. The concierge service is great, and the doormen out front were great at grabbing you a cab and very pleasant want welcoming. A great value . Only minor negatives are that the bathroom was tiny, and the online features for the television don't work. We had the tech guy up to the room because we were trying to use the online concierge, he said it never works. But no problem, because the "live " concierge was great. They were a little busy, but that is to be expected. One other thing...when asking for dinner reservations, which the concierge can get for you easily, ask about menu option and price. We went to a great little italian resturaunt with a beautiful garden in the theatre district, just a little surprised that the menu was a prix fix menu each. A little pricey, but very nice.

Booked for a get-away weekend. The hotel is old with small rooms but beautiful and well maintained. Thick walls eliminated any exterior noise. Comfortable bed with luxury linens. Bath supplies were high-end. Only complaint was that a check-in we were told that our request for a room with two-beds (which was one specific reason we picked this hotel) was not available. Only after I insisted that this was necessary, was a room with two-beds provided. Also prices in the restaurant/bar were extremely high.

The lobby was beautiful and the bell service was friendly. The front desk staff seemed to be a little snobby since we booked on priceline. Don't know if they treat all guests that way. It has comfortable beds, quiet rooms, and good showers. I think it would be 4 stars if it had a pool/sauna/jacuzzi on site, but it did not.

Great location, attractive public spaces, andcomfortable bed. Some problems: bathroom virtually flooded during shower (no matter how we configured the curtain); reading sconce next to bed was broken. This is a solid hotel in a great location with attractive public spaces and comfortable beds. The staff was pleasant and accommodating (allowing early check-in). I'm not sure I'd regard it as a deluxe hotel but it was perfect for our needs.

Beautiful lobby, great location, fast elevators, live guitar music some evenings. Very attractive lobby, live quiet music some evenings in restaurant/lobby area. Near the UN, so I guess diplomats stay there. Appropriately snobbish but helpful check-in staff. Fairly quick response with a TV clicker problem. Attractive room. Comfortable bed. The windows open to get some air, if desired. Over the weekend they had a bridal show, with lots of bridal and bridesmaid dresses on dress forms displayed in the lobby. Nice!

The room was adequate for three adults. The room was clean and towels were enough for each person. The bathroom was not very large but we managed. The toilet paper roll holder was broken and the staff did not attempt to fix but just replaced so it fell off again. I would definitely recommend the hotel especially for two people in the room.

Location was good and staff friendly. It is worn out. The hotel needs to be updated. Furnitures are old and so is the overall crowd. Bathroom was extremely small and the room was as a 3 star hotel room. But hey, it's NYC and you really don't spend that much time in the room.

The linens were high quality, beds very comfortable. The noise of construction near by was very loud. The linens are top quality, and the bed is the most comfortable I've experienced in a hotel. The hotel is old so the bathrooms are small, but the toiletries are high quality. The staff is very accommodating. One problem - the Marriott across the street is being enlarged, and the construction noise started at 7:30 AM.

The Barclay New York is situated near 5th Avenue and only a short walk to Times Square, Rockefeller Center, Grand Central Station, and Central Park. The room was immaculate and the service was prompt. The only negative was that the fitness center was under construction; nevertheless, you can fulfill your fitness needs by walking the beautiful city! The next time that I visit New York City, I will definitely consider this establishment. I recommend it to all.

Something you should know before staying here. You would think that after you already paid for your room through Orbitz you would be done paying for the hotel or only have to pay the usual $100.00. not the case here. I arrived at the hotel where they promptly asked for my credit card. I asked what would be charged and they said $100.00 per night. So if you stay a week they will be charging you $700.00 dollars on top of the several hundred you already paid. If you have a budget this wont work. I ended up having to eat room service every day because they took all my spare money I had brought for eating,Site seeing etc. This I think is a really horrible way to run a hotel not to mention it ruiened my entire trip. I had to stay inside the hotel the entire time because I didn't have money to do anything else.

Great location, just steps to underground walkway to Grand Central Station, and three blocks from Rockefeller Center, and a block from St Bartholomew's outdoor holiday market and cafe. Live classical guitar in lobby during weeknights, festively decorated for holiday season. Very quiet rooms at night, out of the hub-bub of the theatre district, thought still close enough to walk home after performances.

This trip was a High School Graduation present for my daughter. We met my niece in NYC and she stayed with us. The Hotel was exactly what we wanted. The flight was delayed @ JFK, can't really help that, but it was exhausting. The one complaint I have was the shuttle service. It was crowded and dirty. The driver from the hotel to the airport crowded too many people and too much luggage in. Other than that the trip was great. Thanks!

The housekeeping staff was excellent. The rooms were great, bathrooms lack counter space, but everything was very clean. The housekeeping staff was also very friendly and helpful as was the bell men, who went out of their way to entertain my toddler. The only negative I have was that when I made the reservations, I called the hotel to request that the three rooms I booked, be near each other. When we checked in, there was no notation of my request and it was too late to get rooms nearby each other.

Great location, nice decor and huge rooms for New York! Lack of a swimming pool. The hotel is located in the best place for tourists and anyone wanting to get a luxury feel of the city. The hotel staff did a great job, the maid came early unless you put the do not disturb sign on the door but apart from that they were great! The room itself was so big for New York standards. It looked as though it had just been renovated and was high quality.

I like its location a lot! The room of house keeping was right next to our room, they were very loud! We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel. Its location is perfect for tours through the city. The only thing we didn't like was that our room was right next to the room of the house keeping. The often watched loud TV during the night, so you woke up around 3.30 am. Due to very loud noise. But in general we can absolutely recommend this hotel!

Great for my wife's first trip to NYC on her big birthday. Hotel is isolated from busy areas and we walked/or short cab ride everywhere we wanted in Manhattan. We walked to all shopping up 5th & 6th Aves, Madison Ave, and to Central Park. We walked to Times Square, but it is far enough away from that craziness to provide a quite night sleep. It is real close to Grand Central Station/subway we used to go to Staten Island and Bronx (Yankee Stadium) very easily. Hotel was very clean, they were touching up paint - good to see it being maintained. Bed was very comfortable. Our room was larger than anticipated. Had no problem getting early check in and holding our bags for late departure. My wife loved the hotel and location, we'd go again and recommend to friends/family.

The location of the hotel was ideal for my husband and I. The rug in our room was dirty (spots all over) and looked like it needed a good vacuuming. The hotel, albeit comfortable, is not worthy of a 5-star rating. We were put through a security scanning device and metal detector every time we entered the hotel due to a foreign political ambassador. Petty maybe, but definitely annoying when you're in town celebrating your 15th wedding anniversary. Also, there was writing on the telephone in the room that specially said that local call were free. When we checked out, I was charged $2.00 per local phone call. When I said that I read that they were free, I was informed otherwise. Maybe The Barclay should update their in-room phones to reflect this. Lastly, although I think Price line is great, it seems that every hotel we book through Price line gives us the noisiest rooms they can. This is the second time we've booked through Price line, and the second time that our room is right next door to the ice machine (which is not only noisy in and of itself, but the traffic to and from the machine is also quite noisy; especially in the wee hours of the morning).

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Intercontinental Hotel (Barclay) in New York. It's on the East Side in Midtown, several blocks north of Grand Central Station. The room was very clean and well appointed. It was not especially large, but the space was used very well. The bed was comfortable (there were plenty of pillows), and the bathroom was clean--we had no issues with the water pressure in the shower. The weather was quite warm in NY when we were there (in July), and the AC in the room worked perfectly. The staff at the hotel were unfailingly polite and helpful--very professional and eager to assist. The restaurant in the hotel was extremely expensive so we did not eat there, but there were several more affordable places in the neighborhood for breakfast, etc. Overall, a great hotel experience--highly recommended!

Comfortable beds. Extremely slow and noisy elevators. The Barclay met my expectations and provided me with a roof to sleep under while on vacation in New York, but had definitely not been upgraded with some of what seems to be standard in hotels now (flat panel TVs, etc). The air conditioning system was also somewhat lacking.

InterContinental THE BARCLAY NEW YORK Older hotel, beautiful inside the lobby, but shows its age in the rooms. Has been renovated. Small sized room, good sized bed. View of office building out the window, but what do you expect in New York! Our first room was at the end of a hallway by the elevators and we could hear all the sounds of people going in and out. The room is so small that the bed feels like it is near the door. We spent one night in this room where the shower was not working properly - hardly any flow of water. Maintenance took a while to get there and then told us we would have to wait until the next day to get it fixed. We went to the front desk and they promptly put us in a new room without any hassle. Great service from the front desk. Amenities so-so - hair dryer, iron, in room safe, good sized closet, but no suitcase stand. Happened to be there on Mother's Day weekend and Sunday brunch was $65 a person ($27 regularly). We ate elsewhere. I loved the location... within walking distance (around 6 blocks) of Broadway, Central Park, Times Square, fancy shops, and Grand Central.

The Intercontinental Hotel (don't say Barclay to the taxi drivers, or they'll head downtown) has a great midtown location and impressive lobby, but lacks most of the comforts. The hotel itself is relatively old, even though an attempt has been made to 'modernize' the (small) bathroom. Since this had the only mirror in the room, we had numerous space/scheduling problems in the mornings when everyone was trying to get ready. But by far the biggest disappointment came from the noise of the adjoining room. The door that spearated the two rooms didn't adequately muffle the sounds of our neighbor's conversations, which made it difficult to sleep sometimes when they came back at 2AM from a night of obvious revelry. All things considered, I'll probably never stay in this hotel again.

The Intercontinental, the Barclay New York is the perfect mid-town location. It is within easy walking distance of so many places and just two blocks from Grand Central Station. The staff was very friendly. We remarked many times how pleasant everyone was. The room was lovely. The bed was too soft for me, but that is my personal choice. The down comforters were cozy and the other amenities in the room made it a nice place to relax. The lobby is lovely and the flower arrangements magnificent!
