Wonderful location and pleasant staff; good internet access and lobby services, however why in the world do guests have to go begging for soap, towels and toilet paper?

This hotel was a real find. Close to the heart of historic Madrid, within walking distance of the hustle and bustle of both Plaza Mayor and Puerta del Sol, but located on a quiet plaza. The building is beautifully renovated. The only down side was the very small room... but if you, like us, only go back to the hotel to sleep at night... you will do fine. Great lobby with free wi-fi, and some of the best Earl Grey tea I've ever had.

A modern, roomy accommodation in an excellent location. The room was quiet, the staff friendly, with the only drawback being that wifi is available only in the lobby, and not the rooms.

This was a very nice hotel however, they have a horrible problem with homelss people around the hotel. A gang of young men and dogs were right outside the hotel 24 hours a day - yes they pulled out mattrasses and sleeping bags at night. During the day they harrassed us for money every time we came and went from the hotel until we began walking an extra block out of the way to avoid them.It is a shame for such a nice hotel to have this problem but until they resolve it I would not recommend staying there.

The Palacio San Martin is a great price/value hotel. It is walking distance to much of what there is to do and near 2 Metro lines. At the same time it isn't on a loud, busy street. Lots of good restaurants and shopping nearby too.
