Way to expensive and noiseyThis hotel is a pub, restaurant, nightclub and low budget accommodation all in one. The food is good and the Guinness is ok, but it is all WAY too expensive. Five euros a pint of Guinness in the town where it was born is totally unjustified. Ireland needs to stop ripping off visitors and this hotel is well on the bandwagon in that regard. The welcome was very bad, a sign on the locked hotel door (in the afternoon!) directing you to go through the pub around the corner to get in to the reception and then having to ask behind the bar for staff to come and book me in... very poor. The room was VERY basic, the bedroom window was broken and had been covered with plastic, some panes still with large cracks and the broken glass still on the window sill. The window in the bedroom and the bathroom were propped up with plastic bottles to keep them open and the bedroom window would not close anyway. The curtains also fell off when I tried to close them! It would have been nice to have been able to close the bedroom window as there is a factory of some kind right next to the hotel, with a huge NOISY outlet pipe that spews outs its gassy contents right level with the upper storey windows of the hotel! This factory’ back yard and it’s ventilation system is the view you have from the hotel window. The nightclub noise did not bother me as I am from London anyway and being on the third floor (no lift) I was quite well insulated from it anyway. The pub had live music (pretty poor) and Irish dancers the nights I was there which were a welcome bonus, and there was also a karaoke session, although the choice of tracks was very limited! If this hotel reduced its prices to 20 euros per room per night for a double room I might stay there again.
