Convenient location for subways and uptown Manhattan. Very slow lifts. A comfortable centrally located hotel, within easy reach of the Empire State building, subways and an excellent deli, with clean rooms and friendly service.

Staff, location. Slow elevator. It was a shared bathroom but I did not have any problem with it. I just took a shower at night to avoid a conflict.I definitely recommend anybody.

The pictures on the web site do not accurately represent what you really get. Our room was maybe 8 feet by 10 feet with a double bed. A window air conditioner did not keep out the winter cold air. The room has radiator heat, which you can't control, so the room was always chilly. There was a closet and a broken refrigerator and a lamp that didn't work. The TV was very good, as was the bathroom. But, there is no ice machine. Don't even think about room service. The elevator didn't work one day. One day they turned off the hot water for ""service."" The front desk person was rude to my daughter when she checked in and never once greeted me. There is some kind of disco next door with loud music until about midnight. Now, for the strengths.....we did feel safe and it was only 2 blocks from the nearest subway. So, if you don't have a lot of money, be ready to make that trade off.

There is only one good thing I can say about Latham Hotel - it has a really good location close to all important and famous points of interest. The hotel itself looks dirty. Rooms are pretty small with uncomfortable beds and air-conditioning is really noisy so you can`t have it on while sleeping which results in incredible heat in your room. Besides there`s hot even in corridors, elevators and in lobby. Bathroom is shared but tidy. The worst thing that happened to me was when I found mice in my room!!!!!

I'm not a new comer to the citty so I knew exactly what to expect. Although I had never stayed here before. But I did my homework and it all turned out ok. The hotel is in a great location and you know what they say "LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION" it was right smack dab in the middle of everything. I didn't mind the staff not being up my butt greeting me everyday because I wanted to be able to come and go as a I please and not be botherd. The only thing they messed up was the bed in our room we were supposed to have a king bed but they instead gave us bunk beds luckly it was only me and my boyfriend and we were there to site see so I really had no intention of staying in my room. I didn't bother complaining because they let us check in 3 hours early and we both just slept on the bottom bunk. The noise level was quite never really heard anybody atnight. We just kept our do not disturbe sign on the door when we weren't in our room so the cleaning lady wouldn't go in. The only thing I can't stand reading are people's reviews that have never been here and critizie everything. What do expect from the city that never sleeps and do you think it's gonna smell like roses here what do you think it's gonna smell like when you have like 8 million people cramed into a 20 mile radious and on garbage day there are mountains of garbage. The only thing I can say to those who read this are.... If you want peace and quite take a cruise if you wanna relax go to the beach. I LOVE NYC

Hotel staff was very unfriendly and rude, they never greeted us once when we were leaving or coming back. The hallways smelled. The first night it sounded like we were next to a night club and we could not sleep at all. Bathroom was disgusting, there was a wet ceiling tile that looked like it would fall at any moment. Bed was uncomfortable. The maid took our washcloths everyday but never replaced them, and we had to request them. On the plus side, the location was great and it was cheap for Manhattan. We were just 1 block from two subway lines, 5 blocks from Empire State and a 1/2 block from Fifth Avenue. If you do decide to stay here make sure you get an updated room and bring earpluggs if you are staying on the weekend because the nightclub will keep you up all night.

Right off 28th and Madison, only 1 block from the green line subway. We could get everywhere in the city very easily. It's walking distance (albeit a fairly long walk) to Times Square, Broadway, & Empire State Building. I felt perfectly safe there the entire time. The room was spotlessly clean, we bought some Lysol wipes when we arrived & I went over the entire bathroom with 1 & the wipe came out perfectly white. The towels were a tad stained but they were clean. There were no bedbugs or other creepy crawlies. The front desk staff was helpful and they have a computer in the lobby for free internet. They gave us a free rollaway bed. The downside: the room was very small (no smaller than NYC rooms I've stayed in for 3x the , though). There is little counter space in the bathroom. The tubs are clawfoot, which I loved, but the sides are really tall and the surrounding shower curtains made me feel a bit like I was in "Psycho.". There is no breakfast but there are multiple delis and a Dunkin' Donuts in the block. The hotel IS next door to a nightclub and you can really hear the music until you fall asleep. Also, the pipes bang in the night. The room was a bit chilly. The bed is pretty hard, but I would STILL stay here again. You can't beat the price for the location. Oh, and yes, it is a women's shelter, but if I hadn't known that before I wouldn't have noticed at all. The I saved on the hotel meant I could see more shows & shop more, and there's so much to do in NYC you're not in your hotel much anyway!

i was a little worried about staying in this hotel after having read some not so favorable reviews, it was my very first trip to NYC and wanted to do as much as possible without spending a fortune on a hotel ; but if you are going to new york city to hang out in your hotel room than this is not the place for you, the rooms were very small, yet very clean. the beds are obviously quite cheap, but after running around for 12-14 hrs in the city, they seemed just fine. we were on the 7th floor and never once saw a bed bug, cockroach or mouse. i would definitely recommend it to someone on a tight budget/or first time NYC visitor, you absolutely could not beat the location, it is walking distance or a short subway hop to everything!
