Booked a double room. Stated this on confirmation email from late rooms. On arrival at hotel we were told that our room was a twin room and this was due to late rooms small print. No appology made or compensation offered. We asked if anything could be done and were told in 5-10 min room would \"be made into a double\". After waiting in teh room for an hour no -one came, and the pool was due to close so we went for a swim and complained at reception that nothing had been done. Promised room would be sorted for us. Told then that we were not able to eat in hotel because hotel was too busy. We had to walk 15 min into inveraray centre to get an excellent meal at the (anchor inn?). We arrived back at hotel early to get an early night (we were planning on diving the following morning) and found that the 2 singl ebeds had been pushed together carelessly, but they were 3\" different in heght. They still had single duvets. Eventually after complaining again a double duvet was suppied. We went to bed but were woken at 2 am by loud music being played downstairs at the bar. This continued until 3:30am when I contacted reception and the music was immediatley turned down - but still audible in the room. We were told breakfast was 7-9am but in fact it was 8 to 10am. It comprised of luke warm congealed self service buffet and cold toast. Not at all impressed. Eventually after many complaints were were offered a 25% discount on the room rate. We were both shattered from not getting enough sleep and will not be staying here in the future.

We have used this hotel for many years, and have always recommended it to others, as we have never had anything but good times here. However on this occassion the room was spartan to say the least, no bottled water dusty and a bed that was best described as a sheet of corrugated iron - loosely fitted and noisy- one could hardly breath never mind have a night of passion without it squeeking! We did recieve a discount after mentioning our sleepless night, but we were extremly dissapointed to discover just how poorly run the hotel had become, the manager we saw was a poor image of his predeccesors, giving an attitude of he didn't really care. The food at breakfast was luke warm despite using excellent ingredients. All in all a dissapointing visit and one that will mean we would look very carefully before visiting again.

Room 22 allocated on arrival as double but was a very small attic room of single size with double bed squeezed in and of poor standard. Room refused and then allocated room 220 overlooking rubbish bins in car park. Also refused and then allocated a further room that was accepted. After complaining of treatment, were offered a meal discount in Bistro for one night - but then overheard other guests on arrival offered dinner discounts for every night! Views were expressed to duty manager. Dinner was very good but breakfast requires juggling skills with hot buffet lids. Staff all run off their feet but some were charming. Assume laterooms bookings used as a dumping ground for poorest rooms and very disappointed.

Room was quite comfortable but the walls are paper thin and you hear conversations, TV and plumbing from adjacent rooms. Food in Bistro OK but not exceptional. Bit overpriced for what it is - especially if you don't get a room with a view.

Having visited in previous years, I was pleased to note the modernisations which have taken place. The rooms were very comfortable and the food lovely. The pool and spa area were very pleasant. Location is great with the town just a short walk away. We will definitely go back again, this time with our kids and husbands in tow!

Great location service could be betterWe stayed at the hotel to celebrate my partners birthday. We loved the location of the hotel and found it to be nice and clean and we both loved the pool with great views over the loch. We think it has the potential to be great unfortunately it is really let down by the customer service (or lack of it) of the staff who work there, we found that there was no attention to detail and we were really disappointed when we ate in the hotel restaurant on the night of our stay. we had to wait nearly half an hour for our bottle of bubbly to be opened which was teasingly brought out to our table and put into an ice bucket (we were advised it was not very cold and that the waiter would come back in five minutes to open it once it had cooled down a little which would have been fine if that is how long it had been). we were then brought the wrong starters, when we pointed this out the manager came over and said he would get us the items we had ordered we then had to sit for ten minutes with the wrong starters in front of us before they were taken away! my partners main course was overcooked and when we went into the bar to have a drink after dinner I was given a different wine from the one I had ordered. These are not major points but just pretty frustrating and to top it all I asked for an iron and was told it would be sent up to my room over an hour later (and a call to reception) just as we were leaving the room to checkout the iron arrived! I believe if the staff were more attentive this could be a great place to stay

I arrived at this hotel quite late in the evening and was checked in by a friendly receptionist who gave me lots of info including use of the leisure club. She did fail to mention though that the restaurant was about to close in 20 mins despite all posters in the hotel showing 10pm as the closing time. Due to this I carried on with unloading my car in preparation for a meeting I was hosting next day when I would obviously have gone to eat instead. The man who opened up the meeting room for me did offer to get me a sandwich instead but I declined and had to go to the local chip shop to get a hot meal. I have rated the food quite low but would like to say that breakfast was excellent but the set lunch for my meeting was very poor.

The visit started badly when we rang to ask the exact location of the hotel and the receptionist was most unhelpful. The hotel itself is dated and tired and not in a charming historic way. It appears popular amongst older generations (I think we were the only guests under 40), possibly because it is reminiscent of how a hotel would have been in the 70's.The room was poor; the bathroom mouldy and a toilet that wouldn't flush properly. Our window was held shut by use of an old bit of newspaper and there were stains on the bed linen. Lights had bulbs missing and the room was in such a state of disrepair that a Health and Safety inspector would have heart murmurs. It seems the hotel does not take pride in its appearance, and the fact they are happy to present a room in this condition is an insult. Our party of 4 arrived for dinner at 8.30pm (It would seem few guests dine this late and as a consequence we were hurried). Despite being beside Loch Fyne, one of Europe's finest sources of fresh food, there was little on the menu to reflect this. One piece of fish was loosley described as 'Scottish', nothing else benefitted from such description. The menu was as outdated as the decor, and certainly not anything to write home about. Shortly after ordering, the waitress returned to inform us they didn't have the particular cut we had ordered. To describe this as pub food at restaurant prices is possibly too kind. This hotel probably thrives on its regular guests who return time after time and have become disillusioned to how bad this hotel really is. I would only recommend this hotel to those who would normally consider a SAGA holiday and would suggest that being blind, or at least partially sighted would be an advantage. For those that do not fall into this category, keep looking. It can't be hard to find better that costs significantly less.

The hotel was comfortable and the staff were extremely helpful in all repects. The evening dinner was very enjoyable and the food was well cooked, hot and well presented. The room was small but the bed comfortable and was clean and tidy. The only aspect of our stay that could have been improved on was the breakfast. The fresh fruit salad had run out and the the cooked breakfast had been batch cooked and as a consequence the fried eggs yokes were hard and the remainder of the breakfast luke warm. However we would use the hotel again as overall a very comfortable and well run establishment. Thanks again for your hospitality.

Not a good stay at all. The room was really small and cramy, bed was extremly aweful (creeked everytime we moved, not comfy), no bath, shower room also very tight. The place also gave me the creeps, it was like an old folks home. On the positive side, the view was great and the spa, pool, sauna and steam was good. Food was average (not spectacular as some have said). Bad bed = Bad hotel

The room we were given was clean, however the bathroom needed updating. For example, the toilet roll holder was broken and needed replacing. The bathroom ceiling needed a coat of plaster, or at least dusting. The only other complaint we have was the bed, it needed a new base as it squeaked even when you lay there breathing (or so it seemed), we did ask staff to change it , but they only changed the mattress, which was an improvement but still didn't help with a good nights sleep. The restaurant was excellen, as were the spa facillities, although the hot tub was out of service.

Mixed FeelingsPosition of hotel excellent with good leisure facilities. However accomodation initially proved disappointing as room allocated to us was small and in need of refurbishment. The dividing wall was partcularly thin to such an extent that we were unable to sleep due to noise carrying from adjacent room (snoring/coughing). However the staff did organise a room change when we complained and the quality of the second room was an improvement.

Loch Fyne HotelWe stayed one night at the Loch Fyne Hotel and really enjoyed the stay. Our room was comfortable if a little small the bathroom was starting to look drap and could probably have done with a re vamp in the near future. The food at the hotel was fantastic. Great location and fab views of the Loch.

This hotel was disappointing particulary as it is in such a great setting.I am beginning to feel that you get the poorest rooms now it you book with late rooms and this hotel confirmed it. I do not usually complain but 1. the television did not work at all, I asked for this too be addressed and it wasn't2. the radiator was on full and we could not turn it down, we could not open the window because we had an extractor fan outside.3. the hotel ran out of lamb on a pretty limited menu, we had steak which was really well cooked but interestingly served with crisps.4. at breakfast we sat on a dirty table with no butter, sugar, marmalade. No glasses for juice, the wrong cooked breakfast came and no sign of tea or toast.I was so disappointed, it was the last day of a really great holiday. I did write all of this down for the duty manager.
