Overall, slightly disappointing. The main room itself was spacious with a large bed and funky furnishings. However, our view, for which we had paid extra, was of a dirty canal and office building. There were no items such as a DVD player or tea tray, which one would expect in a 5* hotel (though these were both brought when we asked) and the bathroom was exceptionally disappointing, with a meagre supply of thin towels and unbranded toiletries! The staff, however, were extremely friendly and efficient, as were the team in the spa.

Lowry HotelI booked a standard double which in the week costs a massive £414 (really could not justify that for a room), but the rate on Sunday and considering it was Bank Holiday the following day, was vastly reduced to £119, which for a five star hotel is very reasonable. On top of this we were upgraded to a delux double at no extra charge to us, this was a very nice gesture and if the rooms are free, it certainly does make good business sense to do these gestures, because I would definately consider going again. One last point, we were supposed to vacate the room for 12.00 noon, but after a very late night were still away with the fairies, until we had a knock at the door at 13.00hrs, which I actually appreciated the extra lie in and the staff did not bother us until then. Much appreciated and considerate for the customers, US!Thank you Lowry for a most pleasureable experiance, which I would like to do again and soon.

This is the second time I have stayed here and on both occassions have enjoyed the experience. The staff are very attentive and the atmosphere relaxed.Would definately recommend this hotel as a good place to stay, based within easy reach of restaurants and bars if you want to venture out.

Worth it at a heavily discounted priceA very grand hotel, with a modernist flavour. Had excellent service from the concierge, receptionist and all other staff. Lovely big room, very stylish, great views back across the city (many rooms have views blocked by surrounding flats or offices, so it's worth specifically asking about this). Comfortable king size bed and decent sized bathroom. Very quiet, no intruding noise from corrridors or other rooms - that was proablably the best feature. Very friendly and helpful staff in the Spa, and generally excellent faciltiies in it. When it's quiet couples can share the normally seperated saunas. Very handy location for shops, restuarants, theatre - San Carlo Italian restuarant just by House of Fraser was excellent (packed on a Monday night, plenty of Italina clientele), hotel staff will book this or anything else for you. Good flatscreen TV . CD player was tokenistic for 2009, and no mp3 facility. Some fixtures, fittings and furniture in the room begining to look a bit tatty - bed base had scuff marks over it, chaise longue was fading, desk edge was worn - these may seem minor but when you are looking for 5 Star quality they matter. Absolutely no way the room would have been worth the original £400-ish asking price though.

The room was very large and bright, however, the air conditioning was very poor making the room quite uncomfortably hot and the view was terrible overlooking wasteland. We were also disappointed at the lack of facilities, ie tea/coffee, iron, etc., and the positioning of plugs and mirrors. We paid a fraction of the room rate, although it was still not cheap, and we believe we can find much better value for money elsewhere.

Was very impressed with the hotel, although I was slightly concerned about the maid service. I was happy to have the beds made, towels changed etc, but not so happy with the maid constantly moving my personal things around.

Great rooms, customer service and spa in close proximity to town centre. However asking your customers to pay £12 to park their car outside the hotel is a bit steep!

I love The Lowry Hotel and have stayed there several times. This occasion was no disappointment. Excellent (though not cheap) meal in the River Room where the food is always creative, well cooked and sourced and matched by excellent service.Breaskfast in the room was as good as ever and throughout the stay, hotel staff were friendly, helpful and of course hugely efficient. A proper five star hotel and one of my very favourites in the world.
