Excellent all round hotelA great hotel, worth every penny... did not eat at the hotel but all other things where first class 5 star. Very happy with my stay and would visit it again as soon possible.

I have travelled and stayed in a lot of hotels and for the price tag the Bath Spa does not meet the mark. In our room, we had a blocked bath which they did not resolve, ( in the end after two days I unblocked a handful of hair from the plug), and there were fleas in the room, stained towels and no bath robes. It was tired and the cushions they placed on the bed were dirty. As for the restaurant, I took my wife there the first and only night, they spoiled the evening by bringing the wrong food, the wine was so warm I thought it was mulled !!, and the food was average not \" exquisite\" as they claim their restaurant to be. We had far better meals in Bath for half the cost. In all The Spa was nice, Staff were polite and helpful, but did not always understand you. However the quality of room for a five star hotel was Poor. Disappointed

Value for money as the stay was booked through late rooms, however the hotel is very over rated and does not live up to the profile on its website. While the rooms were clean and the bed very comfortable - the room and most of the hotel is dated and tired looking in places.There was no 'business' centre - unless you class one computer inside a very small 'booth' and no printer facility. Only one of the resturants ( the most expensive one) was open- so choice limited )

This hotel is unwelcoming and has a very cold atmosphere. Our first room (117) had a problem with the plumbing, with dirty water bubbling up through the bath plughole. Around 11pm we were moved to another room. Our daughters staying in room 105 found dirty clothes from the previous occupants in the drawers. Next day, we wanted details of the Mulberry Factory Shop at Shepton Mallet and the receptionist just handed us the Yellow Pages, which was no help. She could have offered to phone directory enquiries for us, also the hotel should have details of tourist sites in the vicinity like this. We would not stay there again, nor recommend it, despite the fact that the spa facilities are excellent.

The hotel was advertised with cd/dvd as part of the facilities in the room but upon settling in to the room we found they weren't, contacted reception and found that they had been withdrawn from all MacDonald Hotels. This may be a small issue but it was important to us as we enjoy relaxing with music or a film whilst getting ready for a meal or before going out, but this wasn't possible. This impacted the whole stay as it didn't fulfill our expectations. Have stayed at the hotel previously, but not again.

Bath Spa HotelThe bath Spa hotel was very busy on the bank Holiday Weekend we visited - every room in the hotel was booked, so we got upgraded to one of the 21 Imperial Suites, which are in a seperate building. The only drawback was that it wasn't ready for the advertised 1430 check in. However we were offered complimentary tea, coffee and biscuits in the lounge. It was 1630 before the room was ready. This seemed to be happening to lots of people and was mildly annoying. But the upgraded room was very nice indeed. very expensive bed linen, four poster, very large bathroom with marble tops etc, and a small but seperate sitting area.All-in-all a very very good deal for the 70 pounds we paid for the night. Bath city centre is only 12-15 minutes walk away, and we found an excellent French-style restaurant, Raphael, which I would certainly recommend. You need to book though - they were turning people away...
