The Marshall House exceeded any expectations we ever had about a hotel. The staff was fantastic, the bar was a lot of fun and they had fun facts about the hotel's history all around the place, framed old photographs and antiques. Staff could not have been nicer.

I expected a nice hotel from The Marshall House, but I was absolutely amazed at how beautiful the rooms were. The clerk told us they had just renovated, and it was truly spectacular. Comfortable beds, a great looking room. Wish my bedroom at home looked like this! Food was excellent, also. I'd stay here again!

The Marshall House is in a great location - a couple blocks from the riverfront and right in the heart of shopping and sightseeing. Historic sqaures are just steps away from this hotel, and you can see all of Savannah without ever needing your car. The free daily continental breakfast is very good and offers hot food - quiche, scrambled eggs, biscuits, oatmeal - as well as the usual fare of bagels, juices, danishes, muffins, fruit and coffee. The room was large, the beds comfortable and well-appointed. The room also included a refrigerator and complimentary bottled water, for which other local historic hotels charge a fee. I also appreciated the nightly turn-down service. Hotel staff was friendly and helpful. Our room was in the back of the hotel, so it was quiet. The only drawback was the housekeeping service, which was not up to par. The bathroom could have used a thorough cleaning - faucets and shower enclosure had a thick coat of soap film and grime. Housekeeping was hit or miss with replacing towels and toilet paper. All in all, a decent value for a historic hotel in a great location.

This is a beautiful resoration/modernization. The lobby, bar, and restaurant are beautiful. The rooms are small but attractive, with floors of uneven wooden planks. Unfortunately, the sound seems to travel well, so privacy is somewhat lacking. Try to get a room overlooking the street -- better view and brighter. Wine, cheese, and fruit are provided free of charge in the evening, but the grapes were off and the wine was one of the worst I've ever tasted (both red and white). However, the decor and character more than make up for any problems.
