General Description

The Melbourne House Hotel is located in the heart of London and is recommended by Lets Go, Frommers and most guest who have stayed here. The family hotel run by John and Manuela Desira has been in business for the past 20 years and is noted for the family atmosphere and especially for the standard of housekeeping. The hotel has been totally refurbished in 2007 and all rooms except the 2 basic single are with private bathroom, and offer flat-screen digital TV, along with teacoffee making facilities. We offer guests flat screen in every room with 70 stations and movies, brand new showers, communal internet and a fabulous breakfast menu.

I was little concerned with the previous reviews but I must say that they have crossed my expectations , the rooms were cosy and pleasant and above all it was spotless. It looks as though this place has been recently renovated and I would definitely recommend this hotel to my colleagues.The staff were friendly and breakfast was continental.They serve continental which was quite nice but english breakfast could be a better choice.

Breakfast is included but does not start until 7:30 am which is too late.No milk provided in rooms.Rooms clean.

From welcome to departure very friendly and helpful. I felt comfortable. Room spotless. Owner had to deal with boiler breakdown in the cold weather and saw to it immediately.Breakfast was a choice of cereal or ham and cheese, with yoghurt and white toast. For improvement: Wholemeal toast, decaf coffee/tea and fruit to add to breakfast.

There were no lampshades, no tea or coffee making facilities as promised in description. No hot water in the morning basically a complete rip off! Dated and shabby decor.

Probably the best B&B sub-100GBP you can find in the area (close to Victoria station). Our room looked recently refurbished, was spotless and rather spacious by London standards. The small flat screen TV had all the freeview channels programmed properly. The hotel has also free Wifi at reception (just ask for the password) and the staff was very polite and courteous - quite unusual in this type of hotels in that part of town. Finally, it is worth noting this hotel is quite secure (main door is locked at all times) despite the safety of this part of London. The only downsides are the lack of a lift (no assistance provided for taking the lugagge up) and the rather skinny breakfast. As a guide, at 70GBP, the Melbourne House would be my first choice.

PARA NADA CALIDAD--PRECIO!!!!!!!!Nos alojamos por 3 noches... La habitaciÃ³n super pequeÃ±a desde donde se oÃan todos y cada uno de los coches que pasaban era como dormir en la calle, con una gran ventana por la que entraba aire ya que estaba rota..... es bastante cutre para el precio k se paga, las paredes son huecas, no hay caja fuerte ni tienen el detalle de ponerte diariamente una pastillita de jabÃ³n... ademÃ¡s el desayuno no tiene nada de inglÃ©s (nada de huevos, ni beicon...) y alguno de los recepcionistas no tiene ni idea de las cosas k hay en su ciudad, lo mejor la ubicaciÃ³n al lado del metro de Pimlico. La calidad-precio no se ajusta para nada..............nunca mÃ¡s....

More like a hostel than a hotelThis is definitly not the place to stay if you are travelling on business. Wireless connection does not go past the first floor. Whilst the rooms are clean, they are of poor quality.

Overnight at the Melbourne HouseThis hotel is a gem. It is good value for money and well located (on a 24 bus route). Our room was simply furnished and spotlessly clean. The rbedoom size was bigger than the average for a London room (in hotels of this type). The bed was huge. The shower cabinet was a good size with lots of hot water. There was a hair drier next to a mirror and a TV that worked. The staff were very helpful. Breakfast is served to you in a basement dining room: the continental style meal was more than simply adequate.The hotel does not have lift and the installation of a full length mirror [in the bedroom] would be a worthwhile addition.
