Gorgeous beach, great pool and swim up bar, nice and helpful staff, and great food (make sure you make reservations the day before for the restaurant you want, there is so much to choose from). Overall a wonderful experience which we never wanted to end.

The room was very nice, although I had a problem with the smell of cigarette, I had to complain twice and even then, the smell lingered. I wish they would have moved me to another room. The room itself was very nice with a great balcony and beautifull of view. It could have used a little more airconditioning. The restaurants were good and the service was always pleasant. The ground are absolutely beautiful. I would go again but next time I may want to use their Royal Service, I did notice people with that special bracelet had a better treatment. The airport checking in was a nightmare.. we were two hours wating on line and even then we had to run across the runway...... They need more people to attend all the passengers that travel to their country.

Breath taking. The resort was gorgeous. The staff went above and beyond. They were exceptional. The pool and the beach were great. The room was comfortable. The dining was exquisite as well as the lush tropical surroundings. We didn't want to go home and look forward to returning. Security was not an issue.

I stayed at the Melia Caribe Tropical All Inclusive from April 26 - May 2, 2007. Let me start of by saying that the weather was absolutely beautiful, the staff at the this resort is extremely friendly. The pools are great and the beach is also very nice. My problem with this property... The keys to our room would often not work and it's quite a haul to the lobby to get them reactivated. We had to repeat this process at least 5 times during our six day stay. Our room was not the cleanest ever. The toilet paper holder was broken and had to keep the tp on the bathroom sink or on the back of the bowl. Outside of our room sat a bed or futon almost every morning. That was quite a picture to see as I was leaving for the pool each day. Our bed came with no covering, just a sheet wrapped in a blanket or something. Most rooms had a decorative runner at the foot of each bed. Our's never did... We were told that you had to dress each night for dinner, but often some men attending dinners in shorts and sneakers. It wasn't the worst resort, but I'm sure there are better ones out there for the money. Being with a group of friends made this trip enjoyable, not the resort.

I've got to say that this resort is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! I have been to Punta Cana 5 times and the beauty of this resort blew me away. The modern decor and grounds are breathtaking. I LOVED all the cabanas and relaxed atmosphere. The peacocks and flamingos added a special touch. The peacocks would walk around the grounds (with babies in tow) freely without fear. The service staff in the Marketplace buffet were very attentive and polite and the soft serve ice cream and pizza was very yummy. They don't make drinks very well but the Coco Loco's are good. I dropped in the disco one night and it was just ok. I was on my way to Mangu (local hot spot at the Occidental) anyway so it didn't matter to me. The gym has up-to-date equipment and very clean. Ok, there's always some down sides so here they are...the resort, although stunning, is WAY too big and the train is too slow. I still got lost even on my last day, although if you see one of the staff on one of the golf carts, they were happy to give you a ride. The phone operators are very rude. The reservation system for the restaurants is whack. The food in the buffet is good but the selection is minimal and they serve the same thing night after night, just cooked a different way. The Japanese restaurant is lovely but the food was disappointing. Hated having to pay to use the safe in the room. I was in building 23 where the peacocks liked to hang out (loved that) but I guess it was mating season because they cried out (loudly) early early in the morning. One more thing, I was petrified at night walking to and from my room because of the frogs that liked to come out at night. I discovered a frog on my balcony (on the 2nd floor) on my first day so, needless to say, I didn't open my balcony door the whole time I was there. The time share guys didn't hassle me too much. Just learn to say "no" and they'll back off. For those people who complain about the staff not being bilingual, you are in a Spanish speaking country...so lea

Stayed week of April 4-11 2009. Wonderful experience, we went to get away and relax and did nothing else. We choose to upgrade to the Service Royal and really wanted for nothing after that. We ate at a different restruant every night, all we had to do was make the reservation the day before. The staff was wonderful and very polite in fact everyone was, how could you not be in a place like this! Highly Recommended.

It was a nice place, but way to big. I went on Dec. 20, 2008 for a family reunion. but it didn't felt like it b/c the place was to big and we were all over the place. To get to the resturants you need to like a trolly which was so annoying, especially I had my 7 month old son's stroller all the time. The rooms needs renervation. The bathroom was so disgusting! Was not cleaned at all. I though I had dead bugs in the bath tub, but it as black dent marks. Food is good, good service, ugly rooms. This was my aunt's 2nd time in Punta Cana, and shs said it wasn't the best place to stay at.

We've stayed at this property four times and we've enjoyed each stay. The large pool area is nice and relaxing, and there is a good fitness room to work off the great food.

We have stayed at this hotel 3 times in the last 20 months because it is so nice relative to others. We have traveled the Caribbean extensively both on cruises and land vacations. The beach here is one of the best in the Caribbean because of its palm-lined waterfront that stretches for miles and its pinkish white sand. The lagoon pool environment and the extensive grounds here are well maintained. We always felt safe, even at night when the property is beautifully lit. The 9 specialty restaurants are the reason to stay here as the food is consistently very good, artfully presented, varied and use quality ingredients. The breakfast buffet is fabulous, lunch is very good. There are some annoying negatives such as guest room air conditioning that's never adequate (you get used to it), and the hard beds but the beautiful grounds populated by meandering peacocks, flamingoes, ibis and egrets make all complaints seem petty. The buildings are very well maintained and spread out so you feel like you're on an estate, not a cement jungle. The drinks were okay. I especially like the classy/trendy European ambiance for an "affordable" hotel. I attribute this to the fact that we Americans comprised <25% of the clientele on this visit. This is decidely NOT the gold chain and Rolex crowd that Americans can perpetuate in the States, but of all ages and nationalities. English is readily spoken by all hotel employees to the extent that it matters. At the price you'll pay for a visit to this Melia, you'll have a better accomodation and surrounding than those at much higher cost elsewhere. We have stayed at their upper-end Paradisus properties in other countries and find this delightful. Take $50 in ones for tipping; don't be cheap and they won't be either.

Be patient- the trams that get you around the hotel facilities are slow. We tried to get a gold cart to take us when we could. Very few of the staff speak English (especially on the trams) so good luck in that regard. Overall, the staff in Jamaica are MUCH more helpful and nice- the staff here especially at the front desk, acted like they were doing you a favor.
