Excellent spa and very nice grounds. Didn't eat at the hotel so can't comment. Would definitely stay again.

Initially we were allocated a disabled room as the hotel was very busy, but the very efficient receptionist offered us an alternative which was very nice. We liked the hotel and the spa was a real treat. The food was good but a little expensive

The hotel was very pleasant and good value for money. The spa was great very relaxing and a good facility. The food was fine and well presented but the wine list was a bit steep. Overall a good stay with very helpful staff - would def go back again.

Staff very pleasant and helpful. Room had a four poster bed! Only gripe was that men's changing in the spa was grubby.

Nce place but not as good as it looks in the pic! It may have had £5.5M new work done but the dining room (for example) is looking very tired. Having said that, the staff were friendly and helpful, if somewhat inefficient! It's in a nice location but the room I had at least was a bit noisy for various reasons.

Poor performance from what could be a great hotelExtremely sad to report that this hotel does in my opinion not live up to its potential - on arrival the pleasant location was spoiled by blocked and soiled toilet, and broken door locks. The reception staff were however helpful and courteous and moved us to another room. Dinner that night was disappointing, with melon & palma ham (just 1 piece of ham), a gristly steak (for a supplement of £6) and re-heated, extremely starchy risotto. The wrong wine was brought to the table but after protests about changing it we just drunk what was offered. Pudding was good though! Sticky and damaged lager-stained bar area with sports channel playing smacked of holiday camp, not 4* hotel - small things spoiled the whole experience (charged for newspapers we did not order), and if we'd not got a late deal for this hotel, I would have been demanding money back.

We had a very enjoyable stay. The room overlooked the ornamental pond, everything was spotless, the decor was good and all for a good price. The staff were very pleasant and we dined in the excellent restaurant (£22 for two courses, £28 for three, good wine from £4 a glass). Really, quite faultless.

Superb parkland setting, room was spacious and pleasant. However, problems with the TV - the remote did not work for us, and there was a poor selection of channels for an upmarket Hotel. Also the bath surround was discoloured and had seen better days, and the drains smelt initially. The cleanliness of the the external window also left a bit to be desired. So probably some `handyman' cleaning required. On the plus side the pool in the Leisure complex was much appreciated. There were also quite a few Helicopters around from the local RAF base, but not at night.

Disappointing dinnerDinner in the restaurant was nothing special. I'd prefer nicer food to a battalion of waiting staff, pleasant though they all were. The room though, was lovely, with a view of the lake and rolling grounds. This was our second visit, and both rooms were great (and unique).

I could recommend this hotel to someone who was good with steps and stairs! There are a lot of them. My room had a flight of stairs leading down from inside the door. Dangerous considering it was dark when I arrived and no one had warned me. Room service at a fiver was pricey, considering I would have eaten in the bar if it had been warm and welcoming for a woman on their own. The sandwich I had, was good but it seemed expensive with the room service added on. Breakfast was in the restaurant. Couldn't get an expresso and a croissant. Having said that it was probably available if I'd had room service (another fiver!) No information in the room about the spa, internet or meals times etc. Just room service menu.

Told in confirmation that we could book in by 2pm. We arrived at 2pm to be told that our room was not ready, but we could use the spa. Told by receptionist that rooms had to be ready by 3pm. Ok with this. went back at 3.20pm given key to room 53, opened the door, bedding and dirty towels on the floor. Went back to reception to say room not ready, they said that the system said that the room was ready. I said that the system was wrong. Given key to room 56, went to room, this room was also not cleaned yet. Back to reception to be give room 56 key. This room had been cleaned. But the valance was ripped, there were holes in the bedside lamps and the remote for the TV was missing. Told reception, said they would look for one. They left one outside our door. On trying it, it did not work. The pillows were not very good and the bed was uncomfortable. Told reception, said I would expect a refund, to be told that she did not have the authority for this. Not very helpful. Very dissapointed with this hotel.

The hotel is in an idyllic setting with a beautiful lake and fountain and has a building with a lot of character. The room was large and well equipped. The hotel spa, pool and thermal suite was a real bonus. We dined in the restaurant in the evening and even though there was no \"a la carte\" menu, the food was of a high standard, very enjoyable and we thought reasonably priced. The drinks were a bit on the expensive side as were the bar snacks but all in all I reallybenjoyed my stay and would certainly return.

Room and leisure facilities in the hotel were very impressive as were the room rates. However, the dining was disappointing in that the food was average and the cost warranted much better. Would recommend the hotel but would suggest eating elsewhere.

All a bit unsatisfactory. This group have taken over my favourite hotel in Cardiff, I don't stay there any more, and I won't be staying in any of their other hotels. Dreadful customer care.

Poor. I stayed here 3 or 4 times when it was part of the MacDonald group and it was much better then. It's a wonderful old building that has been sympathetically added to and is in a lovely setting. The recent re-vamp of some rooms and the Spa is OK but the food was poor (and cold) and the service in putting it right was poor for a 4 star. The bar was unattended and when someone did arrive, at least half the beers were either \"off\", out-of-stock, or plain flat. The room was spacious and clean but only one thin blanket with no spares (no quilt? this is 2008!!) so woke up cold in the night. Dissapointing as the potential for this hotel is very high.....

When we arrived there was a problem with our booking. However the Hotel manager dealt with a difficult situation on the busy last Saturday night before Christmas in a very swift satisfactory manner. We thoroughly enjoyed the service and Hotel. This is an excellent hotel in a lovely setting with friendly efficient staff.

Only stayed one night. Loud music in a nearby reception. Wireless internet should be free by now instead costly T-mobile was offered. No mention of use of spa facilities at check-in. Breakfast was fine and checkout was very efficient. Seems an event hotel & conference venue rather than a Hotel & Spa.

A pleasant experience...a comfortasble stay in nice surroundings. But ah, the breakfast! The Albrighton Hall room rate doesn't include breakfast. For us as for many that's good as you are free to choose. However, the breakfast menu was a one-price, all-you-can-manage from the comprehensive and very attractive-looking buffet. There was no no small menu to choose from. Perhaps corporate guests don't mind paying £16 per person for a coffee and a croissant: but it didn't make any sense to us. We were on our way into town anyway..but it seemed like a short-sighted strategy on the part of the hotel which risked spoiling an otherwise excellent experience.

easter weekend awaywe were pleasantly surprised at the lovely big rooms we had. They were very clean and decorated to a high standard. The staff were very polite and helpful. The breakfast was great as it was a buffet style and it meant the children could eat as much as they wanted. The pool was lovely and empty most of the time so the children loved it.We will definitely stay there again. It is also in a great location for Shrewsbury town centre.
