Friendly staff. The chest of drawers had at least 2 broken drawers that needed to be fixed. Very good hotel. Would stay again, and have stayed before.

Service Staff Pillows, Bed, Bathroom - Furnishings Outdated This hotel is conveniently located approximately 1 mile from Duke University and seemed relatively close to everything I wanted to visit. The staff was excellent. Overall, though, I felt that the rooms were outdated. The furnishings, bathroom fixtures and carpet appear to have been in the hotel since it opened. In the bathroom, some of the metal plating from the soap holders has been worn off and is now the color green. The bed and pillows were not very comfortable and I did not feel comfortable walking on the carpet without socks or shoes on. My reluctance was not a result of uncleanliness, but rather because of appearance of age and use. I would recommend this hotel for students or travelers that are on a budget, and people who are not acutely concerned of the quality of their accommodations.

The water pressure in the shower. The front desk clerk was rude. The room may have looked nice 20 years ago. Had the clerk who checked us in not been as rude, it would've been easier to overlook the Millennium Hotel's outdated accommodations. I checked in with my husband; the clerk initially put us in a room with two double beds, without asking our preference (one would likely assume that a couple would prefer a room with one bed). She acted annoyed when I asked if she could instead give us a king sized bed, which they had available. This clerk was unfriendly from the moment we walked up to the moment we left and, unfortunately, we had to deal with her when calling the front desk to address internet access problems. She told me to just plug the phone cord into the laptop for access, which didn't make sense - she insisted that this was the correct method. When I called back to report the fact that it was not working, she told me they'd send a technician. When the technician arrived, he advised that the room was not set up for Internet access. The clerk would not put us in another room, though the hotel boasts 300+ rooms. Smaller issues were the plugged drain in the shower, which was small (though it had very good water pressure), and outmoded decorations. The service at the bar, which had wireless Internet, was fine, and the lobby looked lovely. Overall, though, with the quality (or lack thereof) of the room and front desk service, I was very surprised that this hotel had the highest rating available for Durham. I've had better service at the Holiday Inn, and paid substantially less to be treated with decency and consideration. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

The welcoming feel, the extremely accommodating staff, the ease of getting around from this location. The hotel is a bit glamorous, yet very comfortable. Our room was spacious. The staff was polite, friendly and freely offered assistance - from recommending a local eatery & getting us there. We couldn't be more pleased with our stay.

Location. Indoor pool. Hotel was conveniently located, a bit dated but clean. Food and bar service was available. Nice size pool but would have been better if it was outdoor or indoor/outdoor. Not very accommodating for late check outs even though the hotel was only half full.

Location. Old, tired furnishing. Sticky dirty carpet. Poor tub drainage. I was very disappointed. It was just in sad, old, tired shape. It was supposed to be 3.5 or 4 star. Elevator broken for first 24-hours. Poor parking. Hate it when bath tub drainage gets stopped up. Hate dirty sticky carpets and you feel you have to be with your shoes. Furniture was ancient and was marked up. Front desk staff was rude and not attentive.

Everything was clean. Hotel personnel was very attentive and friendly. Floors were laid out kind of funny. Had to make lots of turns to get to room. This hotel was very clean, upscale. Would be great for a business retreat.

The staff was very friendly. It must have mold. It made both of us sick. We would not recommend or stay at this hotel again. It is very old and must have mold. We could not do anything but sleep at the hotel. We had to leave for the day to quit sneezing and relieve the congestion.

The beds were comfy. Bathrooms in the room were outdated and a little dingy. Overall great hotel. Bathrooms could use a good scrubbing or be updated. Elevator was acting up the whole weekend.

When I stayed in Summer '06, the rooms were redecorated, and the decor was quite nice. The beds were awesome---lots of fluffy pillows, and a real comforter (the type of bed you'd get at the Westin), and the prices were pretty reasonable. You can't beat the convenience to campus and to 15-501. I will stay here again!

The hotel is large, with Duke Sleep Studies housed on the 4th floor. This takes up prime parking spaces which at night are needed. The hotel hallways are hot and stuffy. The ""do not disturb signs"" are not respected. Even though it was posted, at 7 am we were greeted by knocking on the door with the expectation that we were checking out that day, accompanied with a $35.00 charge that could not be explained. It took a trip down to the front desk at 7:30 am to correct the issue. The phone operator was accusatory, insisting it was something we had done upon checking in. Using online travel website, in conjunction with this hotel, we were treated with minimal hospitality and even less professionalism. I could not, in good conscious ever recommend it to anyone.

This hotel was a complete disappointment. It took more than 20 minutes to check me in because they could not find my Travel agent resevation. I paid more for a superior room and got one of the most pedestrian and uninviting rooms I have been in. I asked the front desk if this was supposed to be a better room and without looking at my room number a manager at the end said it was. This faciility is close to Duke Medical center yet had no in room internet and the wifi connection in public spaces was very poor. This is not a good choice for the business traveler and the rates are high enough for this low level of service to keep families away. Service is mediocre. Not terrible but the training of the staff just isn't there. I asked to be alerted when a lost bag was delivered from the airport and no notification ever came from the front desk. I would reccomend a Hampton or Hyatt Place in general at lower prices over this facility. Certainly not something for the business oriented traveler.

Convenient location. Old and run-down - in need of renovation. Hotel is in desperate need of renovation. Everything looks old and dirty - wall paper peeling off wall in bathroom. Slightly disappointed at price I paid - would have been extremely disappointed if I had paid full price.

Friendly - accommodating - we needed internet access and shuttle to airport - we got it! The hot-tub spa was closed the entire 4 days we were there. Excellent friendly service, great central location, very comfortable room, attractive decor. It was great - I would highly recommend the Millennium Hotel in Durham NC.

I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Millennium which is centrally located to Duke, major highways, shopping, etc. The restaurant is excellent, prices very affordable. The service at the hotel is friendly & efficient. For potential travelers, would like to apprise you of the hotel's mini van transportation provided to nearby sights, within a certain proximity: the universities, shopping, hospitals, which is an outstanding amenity.
